What to do if my best friend and I are crushing on the same guy?

I’ve been friends with this girl since middle school and we now work together. There’s this guy who I’m sure all the girls like including me. Well I just learned she likes him too and the worst part is she is more open about it. She calls him cute in front of everyone and to his face. She even playfully flirts with him. He doesn’t really flirt back (maybe only when I’m not around) but is nonchalant. What am I supposed to do without this being awkward?

It depends on what you want out of him. First of all this guy is nonchalant about it, but he still probably laughs or is flattered by the attention. This guy obviously gets attention though without doing anything, so you're not going to see him do "anything" or take any initiative, he knows he just has to sit back and the girls will come to him.

Your options are:
1. Let the thing with your friend/coworker run it's course, which may burn out after a while, or he may never act on her flirting.
2. Try to become more interesting to him, watch the kinds of conversation or topics that make him suddenly perk up and become interested. The problem with this is he might be interested in some really dull shit, so good luck
3. The last one is risky, but is certain to head off your friend, is to show sexual interest in him. You will certainly get his attention but it may not be the way you wanted and I would definitely be careful with this one.
