Texting, actually really isn't for conversing. It's technically meant to flirting, and for setting up plans but, we often get so wrapped up in "attention" that we just want to always be texting someone, right?

I was just texting the girl that likes me, and she texted back something i wasn't sure what i should reply to at first, so, i wanted to make sure i was still being flirty, but, also a little funny at the same time, so, i eventually came up with something, but, it took a few minutes. She is currently working, so, it ain't like she was likely to get back to me right away, but, I figured she would have replied back within maybe 5 minutes. I sent that text about an hour ago

Do i really need to be quicker with my texts?

It doesn’t bother me and never did. I came into adulthood when texting was a new thing, we texted on flip phones at that time and literally had to push the same button multiple times until we got to the letter we wanted. If anything texting was a pain in the ass back then for that reason alone. I still don’t get bothered by it, but for a different reason: I have a career, full time job, a part time one, I’m active in church and I’m active in four veterans organizations. I don’t always have time to text back right away myself, so I just figure his life is as busy as mine and go about my day. If he wants to talk to me he will.

You know, a lady will be patient and reasonable, knowing that you and she are both probably busy, blah blah blah, however if you've scheduled something -- a text, call, vid meeting, coffee after work, or whatever -- then you should stick with that, be punctual and not waste her time.

I never understood why some people get upset when they don't get an instantaneous response. Other people have lives too... you are not the only thing in their life.

Like right away, as in immediately? No it doesn't bother me, anymore than if I ask my fiancé to do something for me, and he doesn't stand at attention and say “Yes ma’am, right away ma’am!” That’s just degrading to expect that!

I think it’s ridiculous to expect someone, like anyone to immediately reply to your text, no matter what! What if they are driving, or they are on a date? (that is the worst thing you can do on a date, text other people). There are so many reasons why someone might not be able to immediately respond to you via text, and unless you preface the text with **** EMERGENCY **** They should not have to. They should be free to respond whenever it’s convenient for them, even if that means the following day, and that means everyone, including people you are dating!

If you really have an emergency (other than a 911 type emergency) then friggin' call them. Texting is not supposed to be for conversations, or “help me, I’m broken down on the side of the road” type communications. It’s just for making plans, asking a group-text if anyone has the notes from Wednesday's class, stuff like that.

If they cannot get back to you, chill out, maybe something that does not involve you is happening right now! ¯\_(ッ)_/¯

I was getting really anxious when I was texting back and forth with someone. I texted him back right away, but he waited too long for me.
He accused me of having issues with impatience. That took me back because I am usually a very patient person. He got his shorts in a wad about it and it hurt my feelings.
But what he failed to tell me was that he was working and that's why he didn't text back as fast as I did.
But because he withheld this important information from me, heck, he could have been sitting on his couch at home playing video games for all I knew! Right?
So, communication is key when texts. The other person cannot see through the walls, down the street, in your car and know what you are doing unless you TELL THEM WITH YOUR MOUTH!

So, speak up and you won't get people upset with you.

By the way, since he and I had our little tiff about this, I don't text him until he texts me first. Could be days sometimeks.🤷🏼‍♀️

If you text me back in seconds and never leave me on read, I'm like "He's waaaay too eager".

If you always wait 2 days before texting, it's like "Is he into me at all?"

I feel as if this is a mirror question and your asking if we hate it, and you have some reservations about it and hate it when we don't respond back right away. Just a hunch.

I personally don't care If they answer back right away. Why? Because I have other things I can do or probably am doing. If they answer, great, if not that's OK too.

depends if it is a risky text. if i sent a risky text, and the other party suddenly took longer than normal to reply, it would be like an oop- moment, and i would probably run off to do my own things and deal with the consequences later.

I used to care about it a lot when it came to someone I was into. Tho now that I got my emotions more under control I don't care the length in time because as long as they eventually get back to me I know they want to talk to me still.
