Just a memento of having sex or a big make-out session. Why would you want to advertise that?
Just boys being boys and marking territory aaaaaah

I think they’re gross.
I think the skin shouldn’t look like that lol
I think why is comes to be “ “ is also odd, unnecessary, and some times possessive/disrespectful/selfish/ calloused and gross.
Overrated. I hate when people show it or if they get caught they smile about it… like… you may as well be walking naked or holding hands with a line of homeless/prostitutes of either gender. It’s just. Nothing to be proud of and no one else needs to know about it. (in my opinion).
Why IT* comes to be
When I have a partner, I avoid trying to give them a hickey. I don't care for them myself either. Neck kisses don't even feel that great to me. I'm not big on showing that I've marked my partner either and I'd hope they feel the same.
When I was a teenager girls’ use to give them to me , I didn’t care for them much but I liked getting my neck licked and sucked so it was sexy at the moment lol
I haven't thought about hickeys since high school. Thanks for the memories.
When I was in school, I heard about them, but never actually engaged in any behavior. I asked google AI about this.
A hickey, or love bite, doesn't have a specific functional purpose beyond being a mark left on the skin. It's a result of intense suction or sucking, and in some cases, may be a sign of affection or a romantic encounter. Some individuals may also perceive it as a symbol of possessiveness or belonging.
Elaboration:
Mechanism:
Hickeys are caused by a vacuum created by sucking, which can damage small blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin, leading to bruising.
Perception:
While some view hickeys as a sign of affection or intimacy, others might see them as a mark of shame or embarrassment, depending on the social context and individual perspectives.
Social Interpretation:
In some cases, hickeys can be interpreted as a way to mark a person as "belonging" to someone else, indicating a romantic connection.
No Long-Term Health Risks:
Generally, hickeys are not considered to have any long-term health risks, unless the trauma causes a wound or infection, which is extremely rare.
Vulnerability:
The neck area, where hickeys are common, is a sensitive area with a rich blood supply, making it prone to bruising
For high school kids, its immature and makes you look slutty. I remember this girl was a huge hoe (she was a friend of a friend) she had a new boyfriend every week and came to school like that often. I would make fun of her sometimes like "oh this week 'Steve' got her, they should start signing their own hickeys lol" since she would have multiple from different guys and the whole school knew she was sleeping with them. Like how dumb can you be?
I like them. It's a little bit satisfying marking someone and being marked back. Physically I'm a pretty clingy guy and I like clingy girls so for me hickeys are part of the love language. Think of it as the step between dating and proposing. Hickeys while dating rings when engaged. XD
As a HS teacher I've seen more battered necks & other body parts that were unnatural shades of purple than any human alive.
Fun fact: One girl PROLIFICALLY marked "her" territory for school pictures because she hated his mom.
Keep them private or not at all. 🚫🚫🚫
My childhood crush gave me my first one on a dare when we were wasted on a beach at 19
That was the only time a hickey felt good or fulfilling
All the ones I got after that were just trashy
Unpopular opinion 🤦♀️ but here we go as a woman i love them I like the idea of being owned, him marking me as his, however I dont really want it on show it's fine anywhere I would normally cover like my B00 BS or A$$
Tacky and gross. It's NOT a way of showing anything other than ownership for a time.
Be careful you can actually mistakenly kill somebody by giving hickeys because it cause blood clots which can lead to a stroke. Mostly occurs though in people with underly health issues.
Hickeys are high school shit. If you’re a grown adult walking around and showing up to work with your neck all marked up, it’s just embarrassing lol.
Very childish
your poll needs an option "for teenagers"
no serious adult is getting or showing off hickeys
Great if you're 13. Not so cute if you're an adult.
fairly rated. I liked getting them and i liked giving them.
I like to leave them where they will not be seen by the public.
I've never seen the point. Just seems childish to me.
Worried when I see those on under aged kids as young as 12 or 13!
I don't understand the enjoyment people get from giving someone a Hickey or receiving one.
It's cool when your say, 15-22, unless it's by mistake, and you lost yourself in passion, lol!
I guess it's ok if she insists, I know that some girls are sexually aggressive, and I really like dominant girls.
I still go back to high school feel and love them lol
Typically don't mind them if things get heated, although prefer not anywhere too visible
Scary..😦😧
Bitings (no scars) for him and in return hugging for me with his big handsome arms 😊☺️
A pointless ritual for teenagers :P
Eh, what? Is kissing not enough now?
