Guy in class staring at me? Guys and girls I need advice?

I (F15) just started high school three days ago, and in one of my classes there is this guy that I think is really cute. I haven't talked to him yet and I don't really know how I should go up to him and talk. Anyways me and him have met eyes a couple of times during class, and I am shy, so I always look away. but today he was like staring at me for like 20 seconds straight while my teacher was talking. Maybe he just zoned out and I'm over thinking it. but I am sure he was starting directly at me. Can someone please give me advice or something? Maybe he's interested? I'm not sure.

When he was glancing at me it wasn't anything creepy, it was just like him looking at me for a sec, and then looking away. when he was staring at me for like 20 seconds it was more like he was looking like in awe, or admiring something. Kinda like an open gaze, if that makes sense.
