Why do compliments feel disingenuous?

Whenever I do, and it’s rare, get compliments from women it always feels like they don’t mean it. Like as if they’re talking to a little kid sometimes. I just find it really hard to believe that they actually mean it. Cause my whole life girls never really ever showed me any interest. So it just doesn’t seem real to me. I’ll get told that someone likes me and wants me to go talk to them but when I do they just act like not interested in me, totally disengaged with the convo I’m trying to start. They give me very quick, short and dry responses all the time. So damn near impossible to believe that someone truly means it when they compliment me or claim that they like me.

It’s not just you. It’s more about the person speaking that about their gender. Some folks just never mean what they say, and if you’re exposed enough of those types you start doubting everyone.

Well it seems I’ve been exposed to too many of those types cause I rarely ever believe anyone’s compliments

Generally it’s rare for women to compliment us. Only 5% of us are attractive.
