Am I crazy to drive 3 hours to meet a guy after talking for over a month??

So...I met a guy on a dating website and we've been talking for over a month. He lives 3 hours away and just began a new job that requires him to work a lot of hours on weekends. He wouldn't be able to come to my town until the beginning of December. I however, have nothing holding me back from driving to meet him. Am I crazy? Has anyone else done this? What steps should I take to be safe if I do decide to go to meet him? I'd be staying with him...am I stupid? Any thoughts are appreciated. I figure...you only live once, why not have fun! He knows what my intentions are...since recently getting out of a long relationship and it has now been close to 4 months since I've had any "fun"... :) I am planning for a great weekend of "fun"! lol

YOU driving 3 hours is a bit much. You should meet somewhere halfway, so each of you drives 1.5 hours. Other then that issue, I think it's perfectly fine you're meeting up after being in communication for over a month.

I've met dudes online but they've always come to me because I don't drive. The farthest one has driven to meet me was 1.5 hours and we didn't do an overnight/weekend thing. Just meet in public and do not make it an overnight thing. You don't know if he's a stalker/murderer/rapist and you can never be too safe. See how the initial meeting up goes and then decide if you want to continue the weekend and have "fun."

It is somewhat unsafe. You two could've linked up in a hotel verses his place but if he's a serial killer it wouldn't matter o_o. Let your friends know your destination and if it doesn't feel right RUN :)

Exactly...I made him promise he won't kill me or rape me and he said, "... you can't rape the willing". So true! I think I'm going to go for it! Thanks for your advice.

I would meet halfway...this shows a commitment on his part. Otherwise you will find yourself driving all the way EVERYTIME.

Is it crazy? No. As long as you realize that there's a *possibility* that it won't be everything you hoped for, then fine. It could be great too. Just make sure someone knows where you're going and who you'll be with, and that you check in from time to time for your safety.

Agreed...let's just say we've had some REALLY good phone "conversations"...and have exchanged some pics and texts... ;) I think it will be everything I want and probably more. ;)

its not crazy, love/attraction will make you do somethings, its not weird or anything. If I could drive 3 hours to be with a girl I'm in love with, I wouldn't even think twice.

A month is no where near long enough to know him, you really should wait and when you meet, you should meet half way in a public place, but you really should wait a few more months, stay safe,x
