Girl want to get to "know" me - Need advice on next move

So, I was stopped in my school's hallway by one of my (girl) friends, who said her friend was interested me and wanted my number. I slightly knew the girl that she mentioned, who I have seen at dances, and is one of my friends exs (ha). I hesitated as I knew she was my friends ex and thought she wasn't serious. I then got a friend request on Facebook, and a message from her wondering why I thought it would be awkward to go out with her. So I got a message from her that she wasn't really serious about wanting to get to know me. I replied that I didn't think she was serious anyways, and that it was no problem.

To which she replied like an hour later:

"lol k I lied. I don't know you but I wanna got to know you. Alota people make you sound like a good guy. And with the whole ****** thing? I wouldn't worry about it :P it might be awkward at first but it always is."

So, what's my next move? Just give her my number and talk for a few days? Would you consider this asking me out? Or just getting to know me, then I should pop the question later if it works out? Also, movies? Or is it to unoriginal? I also don't have my license for another few weeks, which isn't very helpful.

By the way, she does not go to my school.

You should ask her on a date. Nothing fancy, even just getting icecream or hot chocolate (or coffee, but I hate coffee lol) or something. So that way, you guys can get to know each other. And imho, movie dates are pretty useless because you don't get to know the other person. Unless after the movie you eat snacks at a table of something.

Dates are blown out of proportions these days...A date means that you want to get to know the person, it doesn't mean that you're boyfriend/girlfriend automatically after one date...Someone down there...I don't remember who, said you should think if you want to get to know her first...I agree/disagree. Give the girl a chance, if you really just loath that person, then it's useless, but if you barely know the girl, get to know her first... who knows what this could turn into, maybe a great relationship, or an awkward date, at least you'll know if you try.

and btw, first dates are all awkward, so don't sweat it if it flops...keep me posted, I'd love to hear what you did! :) Good luck!

If you are interested give her your number and talk to her for a few days. See how it goes, see if you guys have anything in common .. etc. I'm not sure it would be her asking you out, but she is definitely interested in you. She probably wants to get to know you and then make her decision on that. If things are going good, you can pop the question. Movies are good .. if you want to be able to talk more dinner is good too. If it's just the two of you at dinner there is a lot of time to talk, when the movies doesn't give you as much of a chance to talk. But still, movies are always good and a fun way to hang out. I would maybe talk to your friend about this, the one who went out with her. Most of the time it is not good getting involved with a friends ex.

If he is ok, carry on contacting the girl. Just have some friendly chat and find out more about each other. Then ask her is she has much planned at the weekend. If she replies back saying something like not much, casually ask her if she would like to do something. Meet for lunch or go to the cinema. That way you have dropped the hint and she has given you an open in her response to ask her.

You're lucky! If it IS awkward, she doesn't even go to your school. That girl really wants you, if you're interested you should go for it. If she wants to "get to know you," a movie is a bad idea because it'll just be awkward sitting next to each other not talking. I don't know, the zoo? Anywhere you'll have stuff to look at, but still a chance to talk.

If she wants to get to know you , that is exactly what she meant. I think first you should talk to that friend of yours that is her ex and see if it is cool with him all this ( you don't want to mess a friendship on her do you?) Talk to him and see. Most likely it will be fine. Then if you are interested on her, talk to her more often after school, and try to hang out with her friends. Be a friend first to know what are her real intentions.

If I were you, I would ask myself if I really do like this girl. And before even making a move on her if you do decide that you like her, I would advise that you to speak to your friend. There is a probability that your friend may not like the idea of you going after his ex. You need to decide wether this girl is worth loosing you friend if that is the case. A great way to figure this out is to get to know her and have an insight of her intentions. Getting to know someone can't hurt.

But some girls can do this to get back at their ex. so beware.

First of all, if your interested in the girl you have to check with your friend. You shouldn't start any unnecesary problems with your friend over a girl. If he's chill with it then yeah, you could give her your number and talk. If you two have things in common and your still interested suggest meeting at the movies or just hanging out elsewhere.

Just don't cause problems with your friend!

you should just text her for like a week or so or wal to wall on facebook and then you guys can plan to meet up with a group or something after that

Never give a girl your number, you never know what might happen! Ask for her number, write it down wait a few days then call and say you just wanna chillout. Then when you see her in person just start talking, if things get really quiet, or you run out of jokes and things are getting really awkward fake a text message saying that your mom or dad is pissed off and want you home ASAP, apollogize give her a hug and leave. Girls like to chase guys too...But don't act standoffish
