I am pretty sure he was flirting with me, and I like him back, but I always thought he knew I was in 9th grade. I guessed wrong and he's in 10th, does that change how he feels about me? Thanks.

ya'll are less than 18 months apart!

when I was a senior, I dated a freshman.

now for a bit of disclaimer, I went to a small high school with only 30 or less per class, so a total of 120 students in high school.

well, with 50% or so being female, that leaves 60 girls in my high school.

if you don't count the ugly/overweight ones, that leaves 40-45...and then you get to the ones that are related to you since the whole damn town is in the middle of nowhere and is only 1500 people. Removing cousins from the mix, you end up with 20 or so...

SOOO, as a senior, I approached the arguably the most attractive girl in school and started dating her. I was 17, she was 14.

No it totally should not matter. I'm 20 and dating a girl who is 18 and I honestly couldn't care less, I find her attractive; age is just a number.
