If nobody approaches you in school ( college)...

If you are rarely approached in college, wherever it may be in classes, on campus, etc., would that possibly mean you are unattractive? Are atteactive people approached frequenty on campus?

My self esteem is at an all time low because nobody really approaches me. I know some of you will say to approach others first, but I tend to be very shy and self conscious.

Insee many others beig approached on campus, and eveybody seems to have at least one friend, except for me...

Any experiences on this and any comments?

I have been in your exact position. I really have. I was never once approached during my 4.5 years in college. I would like to think that attractive people are approached frequently, though this almost ensures that I am unattractive due to my earlier stated experience (or lack thereof). Attractive people, however, often don't go through many of the social problems that unattractive people seem to incur - making friends, for one. Ever notice attractive people tend to have tons of friends around them? This isn't necessary because people are drawn to attractive people, but it does mean that friends create more friends - networking is the key. No friends? Make them, or it's going to be difficult to even start.

He (for vague terminology) may be feeling the exact same things that you are - self conscious, shy, maybe he's quiet, there could be a million different things going through a guys head, and maybe he's not even thinking about girls at all, and maybe he's happily single, you never know. But you can't judge your own level of attraction by how often you're approached. I've been told that I'm not attractive at all, and I've been told that I'm gorgeous, so I honestly have no idea what to believe, so I'm not going to believe either and just gonna live my life lol. What happens will happen, and probably when you least expect it.

No it doesn't mean you're unattractive. There could be a number of reasons why you don't get approached. Maybe some guys actually find you attractive and are intimidated by you. Or maybe you come across as unapproachable. You say that you are shy and self concious. Some shy people give off body language that makes them appear snobby/superior/stuck-up/uninterested. Not saying you are any of those things but sometimes shy people give off that kinda vibe. Perhaps appearing more open and approachable will allow people to approach you. And of course, not everyone is going to find you attractive (not being harsh there, just saying) so that's another reason some people may not be approahing you.

no it doesn't mean your UA. I used to think like you too when I was in college but trust me its not true. first of all every college is different and has its own personality, some colleges are party schools, some are strictly academic, some are quiet and boring, and others can be out there. and that affects the school life there, so for example I went to a quiet strictly academic school, people were nerds you just go to class study your ass off and get As. and for that reason I didn't get approached or date a lot...

secondly college is an academic environment and people will be afraid to approach the opposite gender naturally because you don't wanna make a fool of yourself in case you get rejected or something goes wrong, there's a chance you may see that person again around campus and people are just more afraid of rejection

thats why they go clubbing and bar hopping because you can be more flirty that way and socialize more

third...u have to be approachable, if your gonna look down while walking, not make eye contact, not smile, and not socialize chat up guys, you don't get anywhere with dating. you have to show your approachable or just approach them yourself.

No, most people just keep to themselves on campus. And most guys won't approach a woman who doesn't show she is interested first, otherwise it's wayyy too big a leap of faith, you know?

So I say either interact with people more and show that you're friendly or whatever, or try pluck up the courage to approach them.

No, people in college generally are doing their own thing especially on campus. They're worried about class rather than booking a date. Make friends. Join a club or something.

Try approaching people instead if you want some social interaction, have a different mindset, focus on other things besides the negative.
