So I was walking home today and I saw this amazing looking girl. So I walked next to her and tried to start a convo by saying something. I asked her where this place was that I was trying to get to... problem is, I was kinda awkward about the whole conversation. Normally I'm really good at getting a girls number, but this time I kinda choked (maybe). Anyway, we kept walking for a while, casually talking...once we got to a point where we had to split, she said bye and I said hold on a minute. Then I said something like: I wasn't planning on asking this so don't think this is why I was asking for directions haha, but I was wondering if I could get you number... go out for lunch or dinner sometime.

When I asked that, she kinda gave a small laugh/chuckle. Not out loud, but it was almost the laugh that she knew I was gonna ask for her number. The laugh lasted for less than a second so it wasn't long or anything... but anyway, she said sure and told me her number.

What do you think about that laugh/chuckle?

And when should I call her to ask her out to dinner?

You said the whole conversation was awkward, I'm assuming you may have stammered a little? We girls are flattered by guys who get real nervous around us, stammer as they talk, and when they choke. While it may make the guy feel embarrassed, we think it's cute. She probably chuckled because she thought your nervousness and choking was cute.

If she wasn't interested in you, she wouldn't give you her number. I would wait a day or two before asking her out to dinner. Don't wait too long, though. The longer you wait, the more the girl thinks you're not that interested in her. Girls turn guys down even if she was attracted to him because he waited too long.

Wasn't necessarily that I stammered. I was just asking for directions to a place that I didn't know the name of (which is true). Which made it seem like I wasn't looking for direction... and that I was just talking to her to get her number. And when I realized the awkwardness of the situation, I compounded it by not knowing what to say to get off that topic.

Normally I'm very smooth when it comes to getting numbers. Not this time, however :/

Who knows, maybe she was surprised that you asked. Honestly, you got her number. So from now on when you text or contact her, you'll get a pretty good idea if she just gave it to you because she was being nice, or because she wants to get to know you. Text her a few times, then ask her to the movies. If she goes with you, then she's down for you. If not then she's not feeling you.
