If a guy suggests hanging out like this, he probably isn't interested right?

I have feelings for my guy friend. I've noticed that he won't really initiate spending time with me. He'll put the idea of the two of us hanging out, like seeing a movie or that type of thing and I'll express my interest, but we won't actually end up hanging out. He invites me to group things sometimes though. When I asked him to hang out it seems like he wants to, but I have to ask him. I asked him to hang out and he seemed really interested, and he even said some really nice things which gave me the idea that I'm mean something more to him than other people. I got confused because later he said he wanted me to bring people so I got the idea he didn't want to be alone with me or something. if a guy likes a girl, he would initiate spending time alone with her, right?

Maybe he's just shy or nervous. If you can hangout once, maybe he won't be that way anymore. Or maybe he has a huge crush on you and is taking every action to show he doesn't including trying to invite friends along because he doesn't know how you feel about him and is fearing rejection if his crush on you becomes exposed. So, basically not every situation like this necessarily means rejection of you. It could be quite the opposite and something that isn't your fault either.

I think he likes being around you but doesn't think y'all would make a good couple. That's why he always wants friends there.

i think that could explain it. he recently suggested to me that we get dinner once a week and do homework together. he left it pretty open ended though.. he told me to let him know if I'd like to. in your opinion, should I take it as a good sign that he wants to get to know me better? or is it probably just friendly and I'm being too hopeful?

There could be something down the line. But don't fall head over heels for him right now. Also it never hearts to have more friends.

I'm getting the idea that this guy doesn't feel comfortable enough around you to hang out with you alone. Feeling comfortable around someone is really important. He'd want to hang out with you if you two had loads in common, so you could talk about those things, but he doesn't so I guess he doesn't want to make things awkward.

I don't think he sees you as a possible girlfriend.. he might like you but I don't think he's positive you're his type.

that could be it. we have done homework together alone but I guess that's different than actually hanging out. maybe he doesn't want to give me the wrong idea or something
