Married man flirting- innocent or not?

my coworker has been hitting on me for quite a few years now, he tries to give me things, holds my hand, compliments me, and always tries to get my attention.

Thing is, he is married. I'm pretty sure the marriage is not good,he never mentions his wife, even if I bring it up,he brushes her off. but nonetheless, he still is married.

I just would like some insight as to why he has been after me all this time even though he is married. And I don't even encourage it at all. I just don't understand it.

No, its never innocent when a married man hits on another women. I'm not sure what the exact purpose of him hitting on you would be, whether it is to get you into bed or just to get attention from you. He probably finds you attractive but I wouldn't buy into it, he obviously has little respect for women judging from the fact that he has a wife and is hitting on you and that you're not encouraging it and he still keeps on.
