Why does this guy avoid me when he's drunk?

So basically, there's this guy that always avoids me when he's drunk. We have a lot of mutual good friends, and while I don't know him very well, I would say we're sort of friends. During the day if I see him he's always very friendly and nice. But the couple times I've seen him drunk I feel like he avoids me. I haven't been drunk those times that he has been, by the way. But why does he only avoid me when he's drunk?

It's because he doesn't want to do/say something foolish that will prevent him from being with you. He likes you a lot, that's clear.

Maybe he doesn't want you to see him drunk because he's a rowdy drunk?
