Guys- WHY does he disappear when I compliment him

This guy I've been talking to texts me photos a lot, just of what he's up to- including photos of him.

He is very attractive.

I compliment him, and he disappears and won't answer any other text from me for hours or sometimes until the next day.

It hurts my feelings and kills my confidence.

I'm an attractive girl, never have had trouble attracting guys but he hasn't even complimented me- which bothers me LESS than him ignoring me when I compliment him.

What's up with him? He keeps sending pics, so...

Perhaps he himself isn't used to compliments. You're internalizing. Don't do that.

Which is called internalizing. Taking that which has nothing to do with you and making it all about you. Odds are it his behaviors have nothing to do with how you as a person function nor your own traits so it has nothing to do with how pretty you are or smart or anything else. You're only poisoning yourself by making it out to be that without inclination; it's natural to internalize esp. in situations of likely judgment being passed over you but also very unhealthy.

You're not going to understand him because you aren't him and you didn't ask. You cannot expect to leap into to his mind and we, who do not know him, can only speculate. Perhaps again he is not used to compliments. Perhaps he's full of himself. Perhaps he doesn't know how to reply. Perhaps he's too vain to want to. Perhaps he's fishing for these compliments to boost his ego and prove a point. Perhaps he's self-conscious about his body and thinks you're lying. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps ...
