Does my mechanic like me or is he just being nice?

I have known my mechanic for about 4 years. Every time I see him he is super nice and friendly to me. He smiles at me a lot and treats me very nice. Last time I got my car fixed, I thanked him for staying late to get it done. He said, ."..well I like you". He gave me his cell phone number once and said that he would come over and hook up my new HDTV because I told him I had no idea how to set it up. I never called for his help. Last week he made some comment to another customer that we were both talking to that he should take me out to the movies. I didn't hear the whole conversation so didn't know what he meant or the context of the comment so I didn't say anything. I am a very attractive girl but also very shy and unsure. I am always super sweet and nice to him and am always smiling and listening intently to what he says. Does he like me or is he just being nice? Should I ask him out or not?
