grad at my school has just passed, so my friends and I have started thinking about things for our grad, like decorations, themes, grand march ideas, escorts, etc. we're graduating next year. all my friends say I'm going to be going with my friend steven. steven and I are basically best friends, and I have a huge crush on him. but when it comes to asking girls to banquets or to be grad escorts, I'm invisible to him. a lot of people think he likes me, but doesn't want it to be obvious and that's why he doesn't ask me. I really want to go to grad with him, but I know if I don't get him to ask me soon, someone else will ask him. one of my friends told me that if I i don't ask him and he doesn't ask me, she'll go with him. but I don't want her to go with him, I want him to go with me.

i don't want to ask him to grad, he likes the old fashioned guy asks girl thing, and so do i. but any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

I say buck tradition and ask him, but you know the situation best, and you don't want to do that.

This will sound a bit "Brady Bunch" here, but just go ask him who he's taking. When he answers with hopefully "I don't know yet" you just touch his elbow with your hand, look at him, and tell him "I don't know who I'm going with yet either... I hope someone special asks me." then walk away.

Adapt that scenario to what would work for you, and you may just have a winner. If he doesn't ask you after saying that, then you don't want to go with him anyway.
