My boyfriend doesn't listen to me and is forgetful

I've only been dating my boyfriend for a little over two months, so the relationship is still new. I feel like we have some conversations over and over because he doesn't listen to me or remember details of my life/our conversation. For example, he's asked me what my plans for New Years Eve are about four times. Also, I have been telling him about a fairly long trip I'm taking to NYC, which I leave for in a few days, and when I told him I would miss him he asked me where I was going (he forgot I was going to NY). Does this mean anything or is he just forgetful? It makes me feel like I'm not worth listening to because I have to tell him things about my life over and over.

Some people just have a hard time with that short term memory.

My boyfriend gets very frustrated with me because I will forget a lot of the things he says (especially in the beginning of our relationship). For me, it is really embarrassing to ask him something and he remind me that he told me about it a month ago. Be patient with him, he may not be inattentive- he really could just have a memory problem.

I think the best way to handle it is just take realization to the important things and find ways to repeat him if it is something he really needs to know and you are worried he might forget. Also maybe talk to him about it. You can make a joke like say you're going to make note cards for him or something.

When I was at my most forgetful was when I was student because I was taking so much stuff in, not to mention my major was not one of the picnic majors. My other talents had actually regressed a little until I finished, and around midterms I was so spaced I didn't know if I was coming or going. My appointments? -- forget about it! -- what appointments?

I'd say cut him some slack, but if it keeps up over a month then something is wrong. Usually there are periods of clarity and he at least needs to have those. If he's like that ALL THE TIME, then yeah I'd say red flag.
