Creepy guy following me around the mall? Creepy or he's got good intentions?

I was at the mall with my friend and this African guy around my age starts saying "excuse me", but I kept walking. He tapped me on the arm then said "excuse me but you're extremely beautiful"

I said thanks and kept walking. He proceeded to try and keep my attention and ask me where I was from and I said I was from "here".

Still walking away, he keeps following and is like "No, but where are your parents from? What's your ethnicity? Are you European?"

(No shit Sherlock I'm European. I'm white. White people come from Europe.)

I ignored him AGAIN and my friend pulled me into a store and he stood outside of it waiting for a few minutes before walking away.

What the hell was this guys problem? He had a thick African accent and mumbled. I could barely understand him so he repeated each question at least three times and I was basically speed walking to try and get away from him. Who asks some random girl her ethnicity? Is that a bad pass at hitting on me or something else?

Am I being a bitch or does this seem creepy to other people too?

I hear guys complaining about us labeling them as creepy when it's not but isn't this too far to get someone's attention?

After the girl walks away would you follow her?

Reading your passage reminded me of my experiences in Italy where these African street sellers would chase me and my girlfriend down to try to get us to buy his overpriced, cheaply made products. The second you make eye contact with them, they'll chase you. They called her beautiful and tried to sell her jewelry and crappy handbags and they tried to tie a wristband around me to force me to buy one.

I'd say this guy is a foreigner with no game and lacked experience. You weren't being a bitch. Sometimes people can be oblivious when it comes to reading body language. He probably didn't sense you were trying to get away from him and couldn't take a hint. So I suppose it may have been helpful to tell him no right to his face. But in the other hand, creepers generally don't take no for an answer. So I totally understand. You did the right thing.

Yet for the record, most of the time guys complain about girls calling them creepy when it isn't justified. I don't believe guy who is actually trying to work his game, and he doesn't succeed in getting a girl's interest should not be called a creep, unless it he is not taking no for an answer.

He was trying to hit on u, but he had no game, so he resorted to complimenting you and asking routine questions such as where are you from, what's your background, etc.

It is creepy, but he's just a guy trying to find a girlfriend, but doesn't know how, and that's the best he can do.

I use to be that guy, he's harmless and lonely. No one ever taught him how to get girls.

It actually took a lot of guts to do what he did, even though it wasn't effect, and never will be. Next time something like that happens, just smile and say, "I have a boyfriend already, sorry", just say it nicely not trying to offend or be rude and he'll leave you alone.

The way you describe this situation you do come off as possibly being a bit rude at first.. But he also comes off as being a tad creepy waiting outside the store like that...

To just walk away from someone trying to talk to you, whose being friendly, and without saying why is a little rude. If you were for some reason afraid of him or nervous then I'd understand it.. Just be aware that you could really hurt some peoples feelings.

You certainly don't "owe" anyone a reason but it is common courtesy to give a reason if you're going to walk away from someone talking to you. I'm not saying you're in the wrong here if this guy was intimidating or creeping you out then by all means walk away. I wasn't there so I wouldn't know.

He was probably just trying to hit on you. It just freaked you out. There's nothing wrong with that. I probably would have just talked to him but I'm a guy. I might have gave him an annoyed look if I didn't want to talk to him though.

I'm only 100lbs and 5'4" so I try to avoid talking to men I don't know in public. My friend isn't much bigger and honestly if someone felt like snatching me up and dragging me to their car they could do so with ease. I kind of got a bad vibe and couldn't understand a thing he was saying so I just tried to get away without saying anything rude. I think it's different for a guy, you don't have to worry about your safety as much.

Some people are just weird, don't understand no, or think your just playing hard to get. Just get security next time lol. I knew one guy that followed a girl I was with around like that once, from one store to another. It's scary like he could be some sort of stalker so be careful

We have only 2 security guards at our mall and I can spend three hours there and not even see them so they're not much use.

They're also about 350lbs each and if I think a guy is a creep and would have a problem with me getting security it's really safer not to piss him off while waiting for security to huff their way over, I think. But I'll keep that in mind. Didn't think of it. Just panicked.
