Exodus 16:14 describes a flaky round object that looked like frost and would turn into goo if not collected and baked. It is "manna". This manna could be a mushroom that grows on quail dung, which would appear before the manna was left behind by the morning dew. This mushroom has been identified as the Inky Cap mushroom. It makes even a little alcohol cause extremely unpleasant reactions like flushing, increased heart rate, nausea and vomiting, and difficulty breathing.
Mushrooms in Egypt were called "the food of the god Osiris" and were forbidden for common people to even touch. They were reserved for royalty.
50% of people in prison committed their crimes while intoxicated with alcohol.
Alcohol was extremely common in Egypt. Before Moses gave the people "manna", they were complaining about how good the food was in Egypt. Which would have included beer. They were likely starting to make their own beer. Moses being educated on mushrooms, as mushrooms were important to the Egyptians, would have known what to feed them to make the alcohol poisonous.
It makes no sense why they would need to wait for manna when there were quails they could've eaten instead.
The Nazareth vow prohibited an Israelite from consuming any alcohol. This means abstaining from alcohol was associated with an extreme kind of righteousness.

Your photo is of the harmless shaggy ink cap not the alcohol ink cap. Both are a common site in the uk around the edges of woods and grassy areas. They are better used in soups rather than baked.
Manna gives it's name to mannitol an alcho sugar used to make candy, it's also what makes sweet potatoes taste sweet
Yes that is a harmless ink cap. There are others that contain caprine which has the effect I said it does... lmfao.
My bad I read your post with a critical tone 💀. I don't think it was critical tho?
I've Googled around - there are no references online to inky cap mushrooms being the manna in the Bible. Except for this badly written post by me. They are trying to say honey dew is manna. But it doesn't grow worms/go bad in a single day, nor can it be baked in its youngest growth to be preserved (it would look like white coriander seeds after it dehydrated, like the bible says), nor does it have the taste of a wafer.
(I'm just adding more info now)
The mushroom they found was likely coprinus radiatus. This is a very small species that fits the description even better. It would grow on quail dung. They likely followed the quails migratory pattern. Hence the wandering around. The quails would seek warm moist weather (to find plenty of insects) which facilitates the year round supply of manna (and maybe psychedelic mushrooms too like panaelous cyanescens which grow in the same area).
Another interesting verse in the Bible about the manna is that not everyone always got manna. But whatever they got was deemed to be enough. It only seemed to be important that people were eating them. This fits with the fact it takes 2-3 days for the coprine to be eliminated, daily consumption would not be essential
In Egypt mushrooms were considered the food of the gods and ordinary people were banned from eating them. But the manna/mushroom theory has being going on long time. It's possible they found/grew Psychedelic mushrooms and the hallucinations helped them deal with their meagre rations.
Worth remembering no one has found any physical evidence of exodus.
Right there's no evidence because the jews were an irrelevant Tribe with narcissistic traits, they always over emphasized how important they were on the world stage. Until eventually they were ancient and hence mysterious enough for people to start believing they might actually be something more than delusional narcissists. Related to the Carthaginians ethnically. Even Moses complains that they never listen to him. And later, after they invaded the "promised land", the majority of jews started worshipping the carthaginian God that demanded children to be sacrificed on the daily. Why? Because children were a burden on their finances and their drunken lifestyle.
I dont believe the psychedelic mushroom theory is 100% true. Just because the mushroom described in exodus not only rots but also melts in a day. And has to be picked while white and the size of a coriander seed to have any hope of preserving it
