Do you eat the first slice of bread in a loaf?
but it's looks like most of the people don't like the crust,. weird thing... lol
Ahhhhhh... welllllllllll... sometimes.
Lets say I get a fresh loaf of bread, then I would rather eat the middle slices of bread and not the outer parts. As a kid, once the whole bread was done I would use the outer parts to dip and eat with my milkshake lol😂😂😂In my home and I guess some parts of the world... we have this passed on view from our grandparents that the outer layers are used to cover the interior parts of the bread so no one touched those untill the whole bread is done. After the bread is done and we are just left with the outer part... thats when we normally allow it to dry and use it to either make traditional crust, pie, tarts or "fat cakes" since they are the best ingredients in those recipes!!!
nice to know that,, thanks
I use them about half the time but they have to be full cut slices not the weird super thin slices Olin the ends you sometimes get Thatβs usually my issue is that they are often cut in ways that makes them impractical for use
I'm not a fan of the "heel" but in a pinch I will eat. It's ok if it is fresh homemade baked bread. I know we are pretty picky. I'm sure people from a hundred years ago would think we are finicky eaters.
I dont eat them. I keep them in the bag and throw them out when i eat the rest. In my head their like a barrier to keep the bread in center fresh and soft. Plus their ugly lol making a sandwhich with them just doesn't feel right. Worst case scenario i might make a grilled cheese with them.
They should be saved for last because they help keep the rest of the loaf fresh.
cool info
Thank you. π

My grand father always liked those ones first, so I would leave them and they would get eaten anyway. That worked out fine until he died.
Now I have serious bread problems.
sorry for that,, and thanks for the comment
I eat the first slice. Bread is bread to me. So long as it is not soggy, I'm good. My family is the same. They also do not eat the ends of the bread loaf... They used to save it for me. 😂
I believe that most just don't it appetizing and dry.
If I make the bread myself, then the ends are my favorite pieces. If I buy store sliced loaves, then they are pretty much the worst pieces. So to answer your question, sometimes.
The crust ends are those slices I a;ways use for Poached eggs on toast or welsh rarebit.
Who ever thinks that those slices are to be thrown away must be financially flush as they are throwing 1/7th of a 800 gram loaf and I was not brought up to waste food that casually.
This what you have here is trash not bread. This is what real bread looks like
and every part of it is delicious.
Yes ! I do. I have no idea why people throw it a way , it does not make any sens and waste a bread slice just because of nothing.
Yes! It's the best part of any loaf. I also like smelling it before I eat it - always has that freshly baked bread smell.
I don't like wasted pieces of food. I'd toast it with butter & sugar until there's a burnt glaze.
Generally leave the ends till last to stop load drying out. But the ends are generally thicker and the best part!
I love them, especially if they are still crispy 😍😍😍 definitely the best part of a loaf for me.
It's my favorite piece. I like the crust of bread and other baked stuff.
🍞🍕
The crust is the best. I like it the most. Especially for breakfast
Rarely, when all I want is crust.
It can be good, but I barely eat bread to begin with, as Iβm not a big fan of breakfast and sandwiches. Iβm more partial to pasta.
The endpiece of bread is reserved for the lowest ranking beta in the tribe. True alphas dine only on middle slices!! /jk
I eat the heels but save them for last. They keep the other slices from drying out.
I dont really like it. But i dont mind eating it anyway.
I like the middle ones.
Dont like crust or the edge of bread.
It usually gets left till there aren't any other slices left
Its nasty, dry only desperate starving people consume the bread ends unless the bread is home made and delicious.
Save them for the compost pile the worms will dig in
YEEES I wish that we had breads to buy with only these parts.
I always ask for the heels; especially if white bread.
