As a civilized man of society, I pour my cereal before my milk. Pouring milk beforehand is only begging for issues of splashing milk, poor cereal-to-milk ratios (CTMRs) caused by floating cereal, and perhaps even poorly distributed cereal amongst the bowl. Likewise, by pouring the milk first, you don't get the cereal glistened over with milk at the top, which is arguably the best part, since it's not too soggy and not too dry.
My cereal pouring process is documented as follows:
1.) I take out the bowl (Note: I'm familiar with the general size of it, so I know what are good portion sizes)
2.) I pour cereal up to a certain line of the bowl. I flatten the cereal out as I pour so I make sure it's level and know when it's the right portion size. Some cereals are more compact than others (i.e. rice krispies cereal vs chex), so I try to account for that.
3.) I poke a hole in group of cereal near the edge so I can see closer to the bottom of the bowl.
4.) I start pouring milk, going in a circular fashion around the bowl so it wets the top cereal layer.
5.) I stop pouring slightly after the cereal starts to rise. Since I have the hole made from step 3, I can accurately determine when to stop pouring with a good CTMR.
Following that pattern, I have a well-maintained CTMR. A proper CTMR means that I can eat the cereal nonchalantly and I won't have excess milk or cereal left over alone at the end.

Milk first always.
I absolutely hate cold milk (I don't even really like milk at all for that matter). As such, in order to eat cereal; I'd use powdered milk (in an empty bowl) and then mix hot and cold water with the milk to get the right temperature before adding in the cereal. Since cornflakes got soggy really quick in warm milk, I'd add a little into my bowl at a time, eat, add more, repeat until milk was finished.
Yeah, I was (and still am) weird. I haven't eaten cereal in years, but this would still be the procedure to follow if I was to start eating it again. I still didn't get why people could have the cereal first and then pour the milk on top until I learned they ate with cold milk. That this was some kind of war (milk first people vs. cereal first people) cracks me up.
Cereal is bad for you...
And when I used to drink regular cow milk
I’d typically pour the cereal and then add the milk
Now I don’t drink cow milk only almond milk
With almond milk I can’t serve my cereal the same :/
1. I put ice on my plate.2or3.
2. Add a bit of almond milk
3. Pour a bit of ice cold water
4. Add the cereal
Tada!
:)!
But I try not to eat cereal at all ,,, but when I do, that’s how I do it because otherwise I don’t like it... I can’t drink almond milk by itself :/ it’s too creamy for my taste.. that’s why I have to add the ice to make it extra cold 🥶 then the milk the. Ice cold water to make it less creamy and more cold too!!
I do cereal first and a little bit of milk. I don’t really like milk and years of dairy not bothering me it gives me bowel problems. So if I have only have 1 cup of Dino bites I have 1/2 cup of sugar free cashew or almond milk.
(when I was little my great grandma Ruth only bought corn flakes and Rice Krispies. So I’d have tons of sugar in it and waste the milk cause even when it’s was mostly sugar I still couldn’t drink it.
I don't eat cereal that much anymore but I layer it. A small amount of milk first, then the cereal, and then a tad bit of milk over the top of the cereal.
I did it like that as a kid to make sure I didn't use too much milk. I poured a little below the amount my mom allowed in the bowl, and then some on top because I liked my cereral wet.
I had a crazy family okay. 🤦🏽♀️

I don't eat cereals anymore but back when I was a kid, my mum would just give me a cup of warm milk. No more, no less. So I'd just put in the amount of cereal I needed. I'd go slow and add more in small increments so as to not go overboard.
I've noticed that by doing this 1) My cereal doesn't end up all soggy and with the consistency of puréed dog food and 2) I have the right cereal:milk ratio.Cereal First.
Then then milk Poured up to where cereal is at.
It is in a container. I shake it so the milk gets distribute evenly, to ensure against dry spots.
Then I add add a bit of milk so there is still obvious cereal/ milk contrast, bc contrast enhances the flavor..Or you just have cereal with no milk? Problem solved or just have milk or a protein shake. Or just many other alterntives. Cause lets be honest cereal is meh and takes effort lol.
I eat cereal likes crisps so shrugs and don't really care what the rest of ya do. And i rarley eat cereal anyway. If you pour milk first, there's a chance you pour too much or waste the milk or might pour too much or too little cereal. It's easier to see how much if you pour the cereal first based on how the milk fills up. And if you pour too much cereal before you pour the milk, you can just put the cereal back in the cereal box. It's just science, and I learned from Bill Nye the science guys.
I always pour the cereal first simply because it's easiest to get a good ratio of cereal to milk that way. The reason I've heard for pouring the milk first is usually so that the cereal doesn't get soggy but if you have more control over the ratio in the first place you can avoid the cereal being too soggy or too dry... and that's kind of my ideal scenario.
If you pour the milk first, how do you know how much cereal will fit? Like I’m more concerned with the amount of cereal I consume than a bunch of milk that’s just going to moisten the cereal and will be dumped down the drain afterwards. Plus, I personally don’t like much milk, just enough to pour over the top does it for me👍
Cereal first. Pour the milk over it. Otherwise the cereal floats on top of the milk and stays dry. Milk in the bowl first displaces the amount of cereal you can pour into the bowl.
I like to fill my bowl all the way up with cereal. When I pour in the milk, it fills in the spaces between the cereal. What is this? amateur hour? Cereal goes in first, I prefer till 50%, then you put the spoon in facing down and pour the milk onto the back of the spoon so you don't get splash back from the cereal, fill milk until 75% bowl height allowing a safety factor of 25% for turbulent fluid flows during moving around. If in doubt, consult a water engineer (me)
I'm such a twat 😂I put milk first and then I sprinkle a bit of cereal on it, wait until it gets nice and soggy, eat it, and then I add more cereal.
Putting cereal first is just risking that you will have too much cereal, and not enough milk.It depends.
For normal cereal like oatmeal cereal first.
But when I eat granola I pour milk first and add the granola to it bit by bit so it doesn't get smushy and stays crunchy. Works well for me.I only pour the milk first if we're running low on it or there's only a certain amount I can use. But if those aren't any factors then I always pour the cereal first since that will be the main filler.
I don't usually have cereals, but when I do I do it the psychopath way. Milk before cereal. That's because I usually take milk with a small spoon of chocolate powder as I can't stand milk flavor all alone.
I put the cereal for so I ca gauge how much I want and how much room I’d like to leave for milk. Plus I like having my cer covered in milk immediately, I don’t like having to dunk my cereal until the milk..
Isn't it obvious? Cereal then the milk!
That way your cereal doesn't get all soggy and you get maximum cereal. If you pour the milk first, you get less cereal in the bowl. The cereal, what kind of maniac pours the milk first?
Pouring the milk first is something only a sicko would do.
Me?
Cereal 1st.
I only put milk in first when the gallon is almost out and I need to pour the cereal based on how much milk there is.Cereal🥣Then milk🥛
Anyone who says otherwise is an alien👽Cereal before the milk most definitely! This way I can measure out how much cereal I want at first plus milk douse my cereal rather than having cereal floating ontop of my milk.
Cereal, milk. I think it's smarter because I can cover all the cereal with milk. If the milk goes first then most of the cereal will pile up like a mountain on top of the milk.
