What about you? Do you like to wash the dishes or hate them?

I hate the whole idea. I only have one dish, bowl, fork, spoon, and knife. When I grill a steak, the steak goes on a plate, I wash the grill hot, I eat the steak, I wash the plate, fork, and knife, the end. I do it all in that order to avoid the bs. My whole kitchen sits idle while I only work in 4-5 square feet of it. I have no one to argue about dishes, it makes it so much easier. If a girlfriend stays over, well, there isnβt much eating of food, that is, going on with one plate and that simplifies that. I enjoy the eating process as much as going to the toilet.
My wife and I have a system where the one who cooks washes the dishes. That might sound backwards (as opposed to the one who didn't cook doing the washing) but it works out in our case because we take turns cooking about 50/50.
Also, my cooking system is more efficient than hers. She tends to dirty a lot more dishes when she cooks than I do when I cook (I use only two knives all the time while she uses multiple, for example, and I tend to chop veggies in the middle of cooking so that I don't dirty as many dishes). It'd be unfair if I had to wash all the extra dishes she dirtied from her inefficient way of cooking while she benefits from my efficient system.
So I cook, I wash. She cooks, she washes. And we try to balance out the cooking to roughly 50/50.
Another way to put our overall system (and this is generalized beyond cooking) is that the person who makes the mess cleans the mess.
As for whether we like washing dishes, I don't and I don't know anyone who does. But I don't mind it so much when I do the cooking (I like it much less if I have to wash after someone else's cooking). It's like with any sort of creative activity, there tends to be boring stuff involved. For example, an oil painter might have to spend a lot of time doing repetitive, mundane tasks like priming a canvas and thoroughly washing his brushes at the end of painting with a solvent. But the reward for doing the boring stuff is that he gets to do the fun and creative part of making an oil painting. I see it a similar way with cooking and cleaning. The cleaning is the price I have to pay to have fun with cooking.
I've never liked it. I used to be disgusted by the thought of a wet, soggy piece of food touching my hand, and hated the thought of doing the dishes. I eventually got over it, but it was never something I particularly enjoyed doing. Now I have a dishwasher and love it!
No, but I'm such a control freak that I HAVE to wash them because (according to me) no one else knows how to do it right. 😬
*drops a dirty dish in the sink as you wash them*
There ya go π
@UnicornU I really don't want to be the one washing them all the time, but it also pisses me off when someone else doesn't wash them/put them away the way that I do. Lmao
@Still-alive I honestly hate that shit, Doug. π
Lol yeah me too but i just had to π

Oh, well thanks you. Very kind of you to say.
I like washing them when my dad isn't around cause I dinner time happens the same time the news is on tv and my dad yells at me if I wait until I finish watching tv to wash the dishes.
Hate it. I just want to wash my dishes, other people's dishes I don't want. Especially if I'm the cook. Let them wash themselves. good at eating, good at washing.
I hate washing dishes.
I finally have a dishwasher with my new apartment and it was one of the best purchases I ever made.
I hate washing dishes and have felt that way ever since childhood. I donβt know of anyone who enjoys doing that.
I'm so ocd that I cannot allow my husband to do the dishes. So yeah I've learned to like doing them over the years
I donβt care. Iβve worked in hospitality and have cleaned lots of dishes so eh 🤷🏼ββοΈ It needs to get done
Dishes and cutlery specifically? I neither like nor hate. I however, loathe washing pots and baking pans.
I hate doing dishes. Although I have a dishwasher, I still eat my lunch off of a paper plate to avoid having to deal a dirty dish.
Made it our life's mission to get the dishwasher back up and working because we hated doing the dishes so much
Only if I've got music to do them with, which I do.
If you wash the dishes after every meal it will only take a few minutes.
Fuck no, that's why I mainly using plastic stuff, lol
Nope, but the rule that I grew up with is the person who cooks doesn't do the dishes.
Yes but I don't know why every where splashed water from floor , wall to roof and my clothes 😑😂
i hate it and it feels like a never ending process at my house 😂
I do not mind washing the dishes. I actually clean the whole kitchen before I cook or bake
It can be fun if you do it with someone you love, otherwise it's kind of dull.
I really hate washing the dishes even if they were mine. Iβd pay someone to do it for me but donβt force me to clean them. lol
I really like washing dishes. Even if there are dishes piled up like a mountain in front of me, I wash it with great pleasure.
