Cooking doesn't make me happy, anymore than changing my own oil. I mean the first time it did, but yeah.
I should get a girlfriend, in between taking booty pics she can cook me something better than rice.
I can relate to you. When I was alone, and I was for a very long time until recently... what is the point of cooking? I did it for creativity and fun to discover and save money. But, it's a lot of effort, time, and cleanup and storing stuff to eat for several days. It was pointless. I often eat cereal, p/j, salad, something very simple or buy out.
Once I got girlfriend and there's kids at home, it's a diff story. I enjoy cooking some of the time and eating out others. This group is healthy eaters and easy going and mostly compatible in spices and such. So I like to experiment and try new techniques.
I think when you have someone to enjoy it with, to prep with, and to get feedback, it's a different story and something you can enjoy together.
Some don't have time for it or enjoy it, so that's fine... it's just expensive to eat out all the time. but if you have good food nearby, I get that.
Yeah get yourself a girlfriend. I’m not sure why people are complaining about that comment, I mean if you have a girlfriend and you’re cooking what’s the point? Why have a dog and then bark yourself you know what I mean?
That way your universal food prep unit can double as a dishwasher !

I find that cooking is something people tend to either really enjoy or they don't at all. For me, I go through phases of wanting to go the extra mile to cook homemade recipes, or just wanting to whip something together quick and convenient, even if it's a boxed dinner kit (like those pasta mixes) or something premade, just because I don't want to clean up the mess afterwards or spend a lot of time on it.
Other than that, I generally enjoy cooking, especially trying new recipes and experimenting with herbs and spices. I really love cooking for other people as well.
It honest is so time consuming and exhausting. It could be that I’m lazy. But unless you have a lot of free time, cooking is hectic
Your right. If we all cooked our own food we would waste millions of hours every day. Its smarter to have someone else cook when your a busy person

cooking is worthwhile for me because it is a lot easier and cheaper to just cook at home. I do my own rice, using a rice cooker. It is 3 cups of rice per week. Then I microwave it later. So easy. As for meat, I just buy Kroger fried and baked chicken, it is 2 chicken for only 10$ and then I just heat later. Veggies are salad or steamed carrots and cauliflower. Much more healthier than fast food. Also is much cheaper.
I've been having premade salads too. Really good for my focus. I eat to live.
Plus, i crave salt and salad is a way to eat something salty
I dont really like the taste but its definitely eatable, like my body doesn't just start wanting to vomit when chewing it. Some other foods, like rice, can get hard to eat like that
I also have a few days where I am incredibly lazy I just pick food up, but I really enjoy the time and effort I have that cooking provides compared to just buying fast food. I really love cooking new meals that I can find and hopefully make my own plus I can definitely eat my own creation and make healthier alternatives to all of my favorite foods. While I definitely understand cooking isn't for everyone which is reasonable it is definitely worthwhile for me I love making my own food, but the cleaning up part afterwards is definitely the one I hate.

Cooking quite frankly is important to everyone , you can't simply " avoid cooking " eating frozen crap , and fast food all the time. The worst meal you cook at come will surpass anything you try and take away , its not a function that should be avoided because you are lazy , that's just not an excuse.
Keep it simple , learn how to produce some easy dishes , and experiment from there.
But never say " Its not worthwhile " or " I don't have time " , that's just idiotic , just as one must make time for exercise , you need to make time for in the very least basic cooking. Its on a par for the most important function of your existence.
I love cooking. About 80% of everything I eat in a week are meals I cook myself. I find it relaxing and satisfying and I am much more in control of what I eat than if I only eat ready made stuff (which usually doesn't even taste good). Homemade is so much better. I also enjoy watching food/cooking content on YouTube, both for inspiration and because I find it relaxing and entertaining.
While of course not everyone needs to be a passionate cook, I think it's a crucial part of being an actual grown up to know certain basic cooking skills.
no woman would want a man who doesn't know how to nourish himself. Its clear you still live with your parents
Cynical
I dont eat much
I haven't eaten anything today and I dont talk to my parents anymore I also live on my own
I literally dont eat much at all rn
Im about 10lbs overweight and recently figured out my natural bodyfat percentage is about 10%, so my body doesn't actually want calories right now. Close to having an 8 pack. After eating more mineral rich food like salad I just haven't been hungry.
Yea because I just started eating better food
It's all up to you. I am a chef and simply nothing beat home cooking. When you trying cooking new things you will fail many times and all pro chefs did fail. By making home cooking you could save a lot of money. The majority of men can't cook and it is not a big deal. It's your call,
It is only worthwhile when I have holidays and no work to do, which is rare.
But sometimes I cook because I get bored of my maid's food or I simply crave my restraurant style healthy meals.
I cook delicious meals that's why I bother to make the effort.
On other times, it's just a waste of time because we can still stay healthy by eating proteins, fruits, nuts and some veggies.
Crockpot….
Mmmmmmmmmm
True. There are carbs in almost everything maybe aside from grass... wait no grass has carbs. Point isn't about what's healthy for YOU, you personally mentioned eating rice and that's a grain you said prepackaged vs home cooked... home cooking is in general using fresher more wholesome ingredients despite whatever diet you're follow. And whatever diet you choose to follow should be dictated by what your body wants and how it feels whenever you eat
Put a beautiful slab of meat in there with some liquid. Leave it alone for 8 hours. Mmmmmmmm crockpot foods.
Definitely a yes. It's cheaper, tastier, healthier, typically only takes me 30 minutes per day while I listen to a podcast (just cook a bunch at once), and I get to eat my favourite food (or just whatever I feel like at the time). Much better than pre-cooked rice.
What do you like to CV ook
Curries, sausages, bolognese, courgetti, shephards pie, and lots of houmous.
Not my type of food
Fair enough, but it shouldn't be too hard to find something you like that doesn't take much effort to prepare. Cook with large amounts, at high heat, and get the right tools, and the effort of it shouldn't bother you as much.
yesterday I rewarmed a steak and had it with rice and salad put together in a wrap. That's the most I can do
If you enjoy cooking its a primal sensual fulfilling experience more than simple subsinance. You obviously don't have that internal drive. For the simple fact that you don't have it do not belittle those who do. And not not solely attribute cooking to your girlfriends role like giving you ass...
Insightful
What makes you think cooking makes women happy? I mean I'm sure it does make many happy but to say you should get a girlfriend to cook for you makes you seem a little chauvinistic.
Great
Yes, I can cook whatever I want, Eastern or Western, with rice, noodles, or bread. Time can be an issue every so often, but it's always enjoyable for me to eat whatever I want with no limitation of what restaurant-types are available in my area, the distances between my place & the nearest eatery with the dish I want (if applicable), and extra cost of deliver-fees.
Im the type to want to go out on an adventure
If you want eat something healthy, cooked with high quality ingredients there is no other way than to cook by yourself.
Really
@freyared That's the way to go. You have to buy your own ingredients to ensure quality. Standard restaurants and especially take-out joints will always save money on procurement (and try to mask this with spices, etc.). No chlorine chicken for me!!!
@DryGermanGuy What is chlorine chicken
A rather disgusting way to clean poultry: www.thegrocer.co.uk/.../555618.article
@DryGermanGuy Just dont eat chicken
I only buy organic farmers' poultry, and it's worth every cent. But even the people who don't want to spend that kind of money don't have to eat chlorinated chicken, as it is illegal to import into the EU.
@DryGermanGuy I think chicken is a low quality meat similar to pork. I haven't tried other birds but there are ones people say are better anyway, try those.
Wrong. Firstly, white (lean) meat is considered more valuable for the body than read meat. And secondly, every sort of meat has quality ranges from "animal food" to "Premium/Grade A/Organic".

I love to cook but bit so much when it's just me although I still to maintain a healthy diet. I really love to cook for others and do frequently. Everyone should have the basic skill of being able to cook and prepare food. I certainly wouldn't expect a woman to cook for me, my ex wife never cooked.
With that sort of attitude you deserve nothing but bland rice, kiddo.
Get your shit in order and learn to look after yourself. Only then will you get a decent girl. I ain't no Masterchef. But I can cook dishes from nearly any restaurant menu when the need arises. A knack and something I picked up in boarding school, but it's something girls like, as it means they don't need to be your second mother and carer.
I cook most of my meals. My ex wife didn't cook or do housework so I always did it. Even when I was working two jobs sometimes I would come home so tired I'd clean the house, cook dinner and go to bed without eating it.
When did you divorce
2001 I met her in highschool we were only married two years.
@Pillarofhell not only is it worthwhile it's necessary to know. Everybody man woman child should learn and know how to com basic meals to beable to feed themselves. Cooking is an essential skill to survival!
@Pillarofhell. You should learn how to cook. What worth are you to a woman if you don't even know how to take care of yourself you misogynist lazy bastard.
I dont have time for this
Who knows nothing?
Projects? It's my career!
I feel that way about getting a boyfriend. Lol would be nice but unfortunately we have to eat. Mate or no mate. So I am the same way sometimes. It’s usually because of lack of time, or lack of focus on choosing ingredients, it’s really a skill I feel like. I do not cook unless I have time to, or if I no longer like the restaurants that I eat from, I start making home made stuff. I get bored of my food sometimes too though, and the cycle begins.
For me it is. I love my mom but her cooking is more or less different levels of burnt. So I learned to cook in order to have home cooked meals that don't resemble charcoal.
Same as me when I was younger I learnt to cook, even joined a cooking club to help learn, just to have something to eat.
To me, it absolutely is. There is nothing more essential to live than hand crafting the fuel you wanna run your body on. To me, there's satisfaction in knowing i made optimal fuel for my body, that also tastes good and is better in quality than food that i can get premade. But even if i didn't "enjoy" that, if still do it cause that's just the most efficient way to stay fit and healthy.
Yes , cooking is worthwhile to me, it means I can carry a taste of home with me when I'm working abroad, can cook meals cheaper than their factory made equivalent/take away's, making bread is great for getting shot of work related stress when you knead the dough, and its just fun.
Very patriarchal view of a girlfriend. Good luck to her.
Good luck to you
For me it is worthwhile. I honestly can't eat food that is tasteless. My food is super tasty. I don't like cooking. But if I don't cook I will eat very little and I loose weight fast. Cooking also gives me time to think and listen to music.

Steam is your friend until it burns you
I started cooking for myself and its way better then constant processed foods & im not worried if i go to fast food someone else was dirty with my food or gave me expired meat or didn't cook the meat all the way & got me super sick. I feel better knowing i cooked it all right.
Yeah, I like cooking.. learned to cook many nice dishes by now so I get awesome food for the least money! Though, not something I want to do every single day and just having something simple is also fine for me like half the time.
Or your can be a bonafide badass and do anything... from doing dishes, to replacing the dishwasher, from cooking a real four course meal to changing the oil in your car. Gets me awesome sex all the time...
You can't be that busy if you have time to post ridiculous questions.
So go cook something, you lazy doofus!
What do you cook
Lots of tasty morsels.
Cool
I rather mivrowave some shit up lmao. Cooking takes too damn long for me 🤣 I dont have the patience nor the effort. I’d like cooking together on a date but thats about it
I'm here for that. 😂
@Riddler1412 lmao which part
All of it. The cooking together especially.
Weak...
@Iknowbestgirls gtfo
Yes I always have a fresh cooked meal everything made from scratch if possible. My mom taught me how to cook. I can't survive on pre cooked meals personally 🤮
Yes it is because it´s healthier and it make me feel better eating it because I feel like I achieved something. It took time for me to like it.
I enjoy cooking and prefer homemade meals over convenience or takeout majority of the time. But it can be time consuming. I also love it when a man can cook or tries to.
If it’s only being done for one person, it can actually be a bit wasteful. It’s hard for only one person to finish things like a whole pot of food or a whole casserole, etc.
Yes if i want too, even if i don’t yes, being able to take care of yourself is the ultimate goal of being an adult. I love to make BBQ, or ethnic german recipes.
Pre cooked food is ass. Fresh whole foods or gtfo. I like to eat something north my time.
I still have abs
Not that bad as long as its healthy
Arsenic is good for you anyway in small amounts
And I agree rice isn't the best for me but I was starving
Ik how to cook it's just sad, boring, and painful
Yeah, it is for me. I like good food, and I can cook better food than I can afford to buy.
I've always valued efficiency & effectiveness more. So I often sacrifice taste for those two.
Saves big money and 9 times out of 10 is more healthy. So yeah. You'd better make it a life skill
I used to BE the Cook of the Century who Couldn't Boil Water. Now I AM YOU. xxoo
Or maybe why don’t you learn to cook. Girls love guys that can cook. I can’t cook I usually buy frozen pizza.
I already know how to throw 3 or 4 ingredients together
Cooking is easy
Cooking makes me sad for being a constant reminder of my lonelyness. No one to cook with or for.
well no one can seem to make decent food and i can't afford Michelin star restaurant food everyday. So I learned how to cook like a Michelin star chef.
Wow that is great to hear
You can make what you want, make it healthy and cheap, and suit it to your level of wanted effort. Although even though I sorta like cooking, it can be a bit of a chore at times. You can make good dishes in 30 minutes, like spaghetti or carbonara.
Cooking is honestly fun. Especially campfire cooking with cast-iron. So many different styles & techniques, the smells & aromas, the many herbs & spice combinations! It's all so wonderful to experiment with!
I have been doing more cooking since i have been unemployed. I don't do anything fancy but I can cook basic stuff.
Nah, I would put meat in a pan and make Curry's... But what's the point when ready meals exist?
All I eat is microwave Curry's.. much more. convienent
Cookie can be time consuming but it's less expensive. I enjoy it but I don't enjoy the mess I have to clean up after
*cooking
How much is time worth?
Thats not why fun stuff is fun. Real fun stuff makes you happy because you subconsciously think it is making you more attractive to the opposite sex.
@Doctadeek Thats called depression and like you said its because your day is boring. Not because you're having tons of fun.
@Doctadeek Yes thats called depression. Thats not normal neither does it make you a psychopath to not care. Psychopaths actually do care about themselves and success.
@doctadeek you need to see a therapist. You sound very depressed and pessimistic.
@pillarofhell exactly
Absolutely. Cooking is usually very relaxing for me.
Dishes on the other hand...
cooking makes very tasty food. far better than what you can eat frozen and cheaper than going out.
im not an imaginative cook but i do a good job when i have a firm idea what i want
Since I love to cook, yes it is. It calms me down in a way.
I like cooking and I'm pretty decent at it. Plus I like eating tasty things and food out can be expensive.
I like cooking and I feel satisfied doing it. It's a very useful skill, instead of eating blank food or eating at expensive/junk restaurants all the time.
For myself cooking is still worthwhile. I would rather eat a homecooked meal when I can.
Yes I love it and it's my most favorite hobby at the moment
Very worth it. But i do have techniques and substitutes for some food
Who taught you to cook?
I joined a culinary class but it didn't apply much. I just used my talent.
Yeah I would imagine just recipes and yt vids would do more than a class. Too slow of a format.
The culinary class just helped expose me to different kinds of ingredients and seasonings like how they taste individually and the terminology but i didn't apply the rest.
What trash did they teach that you didn't apply
Not sure. I just suck at listening. Or they're just really narrow minded if I find another way that works just fine.
Cool
Not for me. I'd rather heat up my oatmeal and drink my green shake and huel shake.
Yeah I've been having oatmeal too quite often
Right! Every morning with some walnut raisins and sunflower seeds. A peanut butter , Hemp seed and banana sandwich. 50 grams of protien min
It very much is because of numerous reasons that is too long a list to comment here.
Absolutely.
Not that thrilled in premade meals to heat that some company have made.
It can get really frustrating. But i guess it's because i always try to do it late most of the time
Well, home cooked meals are the best. But I am like you, I like my food quick and easy.
I like knowing what goes into my meals, and I know that I washed my hands too.
