I am looking for things to do. I am thinking of making my own beer. This video was my inspiration

That sounds awesome. I would have no idea where to start though. My wife is into making homemade plum wine called umeshu.

She's a lot more knowledgeable about it. I don't understand how to ensure the difference between "fermented" and "rancid".

My dad makes his own beer. Has a beer fridge with 3 kegs and taps to pour too. He enjoys it a lot thought it is obviously a process.

Yes, I've brewed everything from Mild Ale through to Pilsner Lager, the main thing you'll need is lots of space in a cool room or outbuilding,
Its not hard to do, the steps are simple but you need to keep your equipment clean,

Yes. A hobby of mine.
I have had good and bad experiences.
when it turns out well it’s amazing…I have made some great ales. However I have had a disaster where the carbonation and chemical content was unstable and the bottles exploded when the temp. changed during the fermentation process.

don't drink so never tried. I know people who did and worked well. maybe raise chickens, or raise specialized training dogs.  plant a garden?

Making beer is great. The worst part of it is waiting for it to finish brewing haha. Make sure you sanitize everything that the beer touches after you boil it!

I did for a while in my early 30s. It’s like most hobbies, you can throw a lot of money at it. And you can make some good beer. You have to like cleaning, though.

A long time ago, one of the older neighbors came over and showed my dad how to make birch beer and we made some. It was really good!
