I have that as well although I still use coffee as a pre-workout. It doesn't keep me awake at night like some people if I have just a couple of hours before.
Sometimes I think I'm wired in a reverse way because depressants like alcohol tend to stimulate me. I get hyper-energetic and goofy and excited on alcohol while coffee tends to mellow me out.
Caffeine does give me a slight energy boost in the mornings and before workouts but it's much more short-lived and doesn't make me hyper and excited like a little kid as alcohol tends to do.

Yes this is why people drink coffee few hours before sleep. When the effect of Caffeine is over you suddenly come back to your own self and due to sudden change or drainage of the energy you feel more tired than usual.
