I’m a great cook…. I learned from my nonno in Sicily.😋😋 I can’t go to an Italian restaurant.. 2 frustrating. In Rome I went 2 a restaurant an ordered a simple chicken marsala...(Scaloppine di pollo al Marsala) and had to speak to the server (my parents were mortified)… I told him in the best American accent that cook doesn’t have a clue! He brought the cook out an I again in the best accent said this is chicken something but not my chicken marsala! He brought me to the kitchen an should me… I started getting upset an…. Speaking in Italian I started bitching about the mushrooms etc. he invited me back after they closed so I could show him how to make it…. Lol. Is exhausting !!!😂. They make it my way now. I luved cooking in the professional kitchen an the sharp knives etc. I ate my chicken at last.

nope, im pretty mediocre. but i do cook regularly and try to expand my skills and get better.
im up to the point where i can cook my usual dishes by feeling/eye and without measuring or timing, and can play with new seasoning to change things up a bit. and those are enough dishes for me to get by.
but most times that i try new recipes, i fuck at least 1 thing up and it comes out ok at best. so i cook it a second time and only then do i offer it to others.

i can make a few pasta sauces, soups, chinese dishes, oven dishes each. now getting into baking, making doughs from scratch and undersating more specialized seasonings (like cumin, curry, sichuan perpper, ginger and wine).

I don’t know a ton of things to make, but what I do know, I think is very good. YouTube has been great for recipes and actually seeing how to prepare and cook everything. I’ve made some pretty elaborate stuff just from there. I enjoy it, but it doesn’t really fit my dietary goals most of the time, haha, plus all the work cooking it, plus all the work cleaning up after it, all for 15-20 minutes of eating it…. sometimes it doesn’t seem worth it unless it’s to make other people happy.

Yes! I don't enjoy cooking but I'm great at it.  I like being able to make tasty dishes and getting creative.

I'd been lazy in the kitchen for most of my life, ashamed to admit.
A few years ago I decided to change the program.
I'm slowly but surely picking a dish and then I practice and practice until it's restaurant quality.
I'm only up to around four.
I'm fairly proficient but I could always improve on the rest.

My mom was an expert baker. Cakes, pies, breads, cobblers, dumplings, torts, pastries... the works... as a HOBBY! She did wedding and graduation cakes as her gift.

I look around at the home cooks around me and I think I'm pretty good. I look at the pros and I think I'm retarded. There's a massive gap between amateur and pro. I'm in that gap. I take this shit seriously but I'm also retarded.

Nope 🙅🏻 I grew up w/single mom and she was always working. Now since I've been married, I have learned majority of the real recipes of the Mexican cuisine, but I rarely cook it myself.

Not as good as I used to be. I loved cooking and loved entertaining. My family has killed that with all the whining about, "I want this and I don't want that." Everyone likes something different, so now cooking has become a chore.
