Really a hotdog is a breed on it's own. Rarely is the hotdog sausage between two separate pieces of bread it is usually slipped into a split of a hot dog roll which is one piece of bread specifically made for hot dogs with a split for the sausage. A hot dog is a hot dog not a sandwich. A hamburger is a sandwich.
