A hot dog is meat between two pieces of bread (typically a bun).
A sandwich is meat between two slices of bread.
So...
Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?
That is one of the many questions that will ponder people for generations & as for me Iโll classify a hotdog as a sandwich if you cut the bun completely in half therefore creating two pieces of bread.
If a hotdog is a sandwich is a hamburger a sandwich as well?
Is cereal soup?
Sandwich:
An item of food consisting of (two pieces of bread) with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal.
Bun:
A bread roll of various shapes and flavorings, typically sweetened and often containing dried fruit.
I voted no because you asked if a hot dog is a sandwich. I would've voted yes if you asked if a hot dog ON BUN is a sandwich.
I want to keep it short.
Hot dogs aren't sandwiches.
Hot dogs on bun are sandwiches.
Understood
Yes it is
And just a small fix there a samwitch is a food where 2 or more elements of the same type (commonly bread) are used to hold diffrent items between them
So Oreo is a samwitch as well
Everybody knows that! They have been sold as a sandwich cookie since they were first made
Hotdogs are only on one piece of bread (bun) that has been split to accept the dog and toppings so not a sandwich.
Generally they're not slices of the same bun as the bun is rarely sliced in two it's only split.
So if you push the sausage a little or it wets and splits it then turns to a sandwich?
Its a sandwich to begin with
If maybe you make a hole in the middle and shove a sausage inside.. then there is debate
but on this case the stoping before the end of the cut is a matter of convince of keeping it one part
Its a style, but the center is very much the same and its task keeping its status as a sandwich :)
Never had it split from moving the weiner how do you manage to get it wet by spilling your fifteenth beer on it?
It's a category of sandwich. The real question is should people who split the bun horizontally be cast out of society.

It is a type of sandwich, these include a variety of things and also include legal requirements.

It is an intestinal casing of questionably processed mistery meat, sandwiched between two halves of a long narrow bun. That is as close as it comes, to being defined as a sandwich.

Tell me your definition of "sandwich" and I can answer the question. If a sandwich is meat between two slices of bread, then a hot dog is a sandwich. But I'm sure there is some contrasting definition that leads to a different answer.
I guess it would also have to depend on someone's definition of what constitutes "meat". With all the milk powder, water/ice slurry, fat trimmings, corn syrup, etc., some might question including it in the "meat " category.
If the bread being in one piece instead of two is the issue, then would slicing it change that?
Look, let's compromise- a hot dog is a taco. Would THAT work?
No.
A standard whole weiner between sliced bread cannot be a sandwich.
that is clearly and absolutely one piece of bread... lol
Actually it's a sausage in one piece of bread split to accept the sausage. And toppings.
If I have a heel of bread and put peanut butter and jelly in it and then fold it, itโs a pb&j sandwich. I feel the same applies for a hotdog
Hot Dogs -to me- are in a kind of cultural and culinary grey zone.
A hot dog is a sausage. In a bun with condiments it becomes a sandwich.
No itโs not but donโt forget to watch the hotdog getting competition today with Joey Chestnut
By itself, it's not. It's not yet a sandwich if it's not sandwiched between pieces of bread.
I'm going to say yes.
It's an American taco
Outstanding answer, I love it.
Hummm... I've never thought of that...
yes, a hot dog is a samdwich.
No it's a taco
I guess so I mean itโs pretty much a sub
Yeah I guess
Nope
