A hot dog is meat between two pieces of bread (typically a bun).
A sandwich is meat between two slices of bread.

So...

Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?

Yes - of course a Hot Dog is a Sandwich

FUN FACTS - 150 million hot dogs will be eaten on July 4th (Independence Day) in the United States. Not sure how many Joey Chestnut will eat this year in Nathan's hot dog eating contest at Coney Island... in 2021, he set a record of eating 76 hotdogs and buns (HDB) in 10 minutes.

That is one of the many questions that will ponder people for generations & as for me I’ll classify a hotdog as a sandwich if you cut the bun completely in half therefore creating two pieces of bread.

If a hotdog is a sandwich is a hamburger a sandwich as well?

And just a small fix there a samwitch is a food where 2 or more elements of the same type (commonly bread) are used to hold diffrent items between them
So Oreo is a samwitch as well

Hotdogs are only on one piece of bread (bun) that has been split to accept the dog and toppings so not a sandwich.

Its still a sandwich as its between the buns bread that is held by bread, its two slices of the same bun
most sandwiches will be made of the same bread slices as there best to fit

Generally they're not slices of the same bun as the bun is rarely sliced in two it's only split.

So if you push the sausage a little or it wets and splits it then turns to a sandwich?
Its a sandwich to begin with
If maybe you make a hole in the middle and shove a sausage inside.. then there is debate
but on this case the stoping before the end of the cut is a matter of convince of keeping it one part
Its a style, but the center is very much the same and its task keeping its status as a sandwich :)

Tell me your definition of "sandwich" and I can answer the question. If a sandwich is meat between two slices of bread, then a hot dog is a sandwich. But I'm sure there is some contrasting definition that leads to a different answer.

I guess it would also have to depend on someone's definition of what constitutes "meat". With all the milk powder, water/ice slurry, fat trimmings, corn syrup, etc., some might question including it in the "meat " category.

If I have a heel of bread and put peanut butter and jelly in it and then fold it, it’s a pb&j sandwich. I feel the same applies for a hotdog
