Suburbia was the first. It opened somewhere in the 1980s then closed in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

Something happened

Well one of the family members or was it an employee,(Don't matter, back to the story)

Well they started Gold Coast Sub's and they made the exact same submarine sandwiches as Suburbia.

After a few years of Gold Coast being in business, Suburbia re-openes and been opened ever since.

Both of these Mom & Pop restaurants are famous in Milwaukee Wisconsin.

Come to think of it. I think they both own by same family. Like cousin or something.

No. Never even heard of them before GAG. They're mostly just a Midwest/Southern franchise; from Ohio to Texas only, so most of the US doesn't have them. There's literally only one store in the city I used to live and they only opened in 2021. Apparently, they suck and look better than they actually taste.

My area had a tropical storm watch but that's not much more than a thunderstorm by Florida standards, so my office was not closed today. However, we did buy sandwiches and had them delivered, so staff would not need to leave at lunch time. The sandwiches were from Jersey Mike's. Unfortunately, I am doing a low carb diet and JM's does not have any salad selections on their menu; it's only sandwiches, so I didn't order anything.

there is one that opened in my town a year ago. i have not been there. There is a local guy that makes really good subs. Since you say so maybe I will give it a try.

They're very good for cold cuts. The combination of oils, seasoning, vinegar, etc in the "Mike's way" is really good.

At my old job, my boss brought in Jersey Mike’s - ham and cheese on mustard on white bread sub roll for everyone during Black Friday sale. Tasted nothing special to me.

Yes, I know of 3 of them by me on Long Island in different towns and have eaten there awhile ago, it is good and like Quiznos which are not around here anymore

Yo put my rating in context, Subway is in the 6-7 range. The sandwiches I scratch build at home are more like 7-8. I've never been to a sandwich shop that pulled a 10/10. Something is invariably a tiny bit off. There is deli in downtown St Louis- near the Arch- that was getting darn close, though. It was not one of the chain stores, though. I'd hate to think what they charge now for them, because 5-6 years ago they were nearly $10 (with a bag of chips).

being from Jersey. yep. their ok. Franchise food that tastes good. Mom and Pop shops always have good hoagies aka “Subs”. But for a kick ass cheese steaks, Gaetanos is pretty banging , even as a franchise
