I always seem to have to buy bananas in advance and wait a few days for them to ripen these days, in the same way I always used to have to with avocados. It's really annoying that I can no longer treat them as a last minute snack idea when I shop.

There was a supply issue for a while, so bananas we are getting now are not sat in the warehouse ripening before going to supermarket shelves.
Can't get tag 2 for my work at the moment (browned bananas) so we just buy them a couple weeks in advance and let them ripen before using.
I look for the greenish ones. I like them firm and tangy. Once they're mushy the texture is worse, to me, but it's mainly the taste. It's too... banana-y, lol.

I've eaten bananas since i was young. But I've yet to try an avocado
@nawtee_me i dont like guacamole and i dont like authentic mexican food. I like Taco bell lol
At my local grocery store, you have a choice of Organic or Non-Organic bananas. Almost all of them are yellow and can be eaten as soon as you get them home. In fact, if you don't eat them within 5 days, they get mushy and too sugary, perfect for banana bread but not for standalone eating.
I visit Barbados annually and they grow bananas there and they have never seen a yellow banana the bananas there are still green when ripe. The oranges are green when ripe and they don't have any orange colored oranges. The avocados are ripe when very dark green almost black.
I didn't know that but I do know that food processorss hate shipping ripe fruit since it damages so much more easily than green fruit and veg. I haven't seen any banana oil yet and there was a glut of avocado oil.
I have notice that as well. For the avocados I place them in a paper bag, which seems to help them ripen more quickly. For bananas if I just separate them from each other and they ripen more quickly.
The avocados said they wanted to take a break and the bananas said they weren't doing anything else, so...
I eat bananas most days. I love them with my toasted sandwich or banana splits.
@PBandJ_Nerd or a peanut butter and banana sandwich soooo good.
@LiamSawyer Yeah. That's what I eat. But I cannot have it for a while now.
Well, Avocados are hard to find, I know for me, they are, so buy Bananas instead.
I hope avocadoes stop being exported. They cause a huge ecological damage and the mexican cartel's profit from the farmers to produce avocadoes.
The less route they are the father they have travelled. Ripe fruit bruises easily and that's bad for business, lots of waste.
Obviously easy to find with similar nutrient value.
We grow bananas in my country but avocados are imported.
At my grocery store you can buy green or yellow bananas. I buy yellow, wrap the stem in plastic wrap and stick them in the fridge so they last longer
I have done green eggs for Saint Patrick’s Day. I did deviled eggs using avocado instead of mayonnaise. It is a good fat…. lol
Just depends on when you buy them. There are ways to ripen them faster.
Ask them where they put the darkened ones, many stores will give you the over ripening ones for free.
There is a documentary about that look it up
Bananas where always a thing.
