The first thing to do is get the fever temperature down so it is often good to take a lukewarm bath and while doing so one should drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after the bath. Depending on what your doctor has told you is best, acetaminophen or ibuprofen are also good tools to use when fighting a fever.

Take the ice packs out of your freezer or get zip lock ice packed bags out and wrap in a towel. Packs or bags of ice should be put under arm pits or around groin areas. The goal is immediate reduction in temperature and stabilization of body temperature.

Make sure you speak with a doctor or nurse.
