What is the poorest dinner meal that you can remember eating during a time of financial hardship?

I’ve never been food poor. It’s basic common sense that as a human you need to eat so you focus on developing that sort of wealth first. It’s more important than fancy cars, designer clothing, or extra bedrooms that you don’t actually use. I’ve been gardening since I was like 3 years old. I own farmland. I grow crops even though that’s not my main job. If things go bad for whatever reason, I just walk out in the back yard and dig up calories that are always growing in the ground all day every day. In a couple of minutes I can get a week’s worth of calories with a grub hoe and a machete without even breaking a sweat. I can do that every week from now until I die of old age.

Going without food for days, and then having a couple sticks of jerky, and eventually some canned tuna, cold from the can.

I’ve been homeless and jobless before. Wasn’t fun.

In terms of something sustainable on a low budget, oatmeal and potatoes can last you a while for cheap. But that takes a stove.

If you don’t have the luxury of having a stove, canned meats would give you the best value for your dollar.

A bit heavy to carry if you’re living out of a bag though, so I’d only carry about 3 days worth of food at any time.

in the front of my subdivision there's a little small eatery on the side and i ate on that. i eat on small restaurants we call it here Karinderiq but not that kind. it's open.. just tables and chairs and it's because of a womanizer who wannq control and manipulate my life. he is teachinh me to be thrifty because he has a lot of eomen to support but that's just based on my dreams but my dreams don't usually lie

My mom did her best as a single Mom who never received child support from my dad, so there were times we had no food.
Once she had a Snickers bar in her perse and she split it in three and we each got a little piece.

I suppose when someone realized I was hungry and bought me a meal. Not sure how that compares to someone realizing I was cold and gave me a shirt when I didn't have one. Or the time someone took me home to fry a couple of eggs for me to eat. He told me if his wife asked who I was to say I was someone from work (not that she'd believe it).

When I was trying to save money I decided I could use edamame as my primary source of protein and in less than a month I developed health problems from nutritional deficiencies. I resolved the issue in a few months by eating butter chicken cause our school cafeteria used to sell it. It was an excellent meal - healthy, delicious, affordable, and pre cooked so you do not have to wait for your food.

When I was much younger, my parents went through a short time of financial hardship. We ate a lot of toasted cheese sandwiches.

When I was in college and moved into my first apartment, I didn't have much money. Dinner often consisted of Kool Aid and pasta with butter.

When I was a kid I remember us not having anything to eat in the house. And my mom wasn't making anything. I remember her being really pissed off. So me and my siblings scrounge in the fridge for scraps. We found a flour tortilla shell, some tomato paste, some cheese, and hot dogs and made Ghetto pizza.😆 I remember my mom taking one look at it and overturning the table and our Ghetto pizza went all over the floor. I don't remember going hungry as kid very much but I remember that time I think because how pissed my mom was.
