How thick should a lasagne be?

To celebrate Wales's crushing defeat of Italy in the six nations cup I've just made a lasagne. Now I know I don't do them authentically but I do do them better. I make them 3 inches thick because that's the depth of my square dish and I put 4 thick layers (2 meat, 2 veggie) and generously top with cheddar cheese sauce.

Of course you never eat it on the first bake. Much better reheated the next day. But how thick do you like yours?
