If you went to a Chinese restaurant for your lunch break, and got egg rolls, and when eating one you bit into a cigarette filter, what would you do?

While working In Newport Beach, I went to a Chinese food restaurant, where I had gone before and bought egg rolls and taken them back to my office. Luckily, I did not offer any to another employee or it probably would have been a REAL nightmare, that I would have had to handle. I was really angry, and disgusted with this kind of dereliction and , unacceptable way of preparing food. I could not imagine how such a thing had REALLY happened, and the thought of it still makes me nauseous.

I would take it back to the restaurant, show the owner/manager, and register my disgust with that kind of carelessness in food prep (Which I did)

I would go to the manager, register a formal complaint, demand my money back and go to the city/county Health department, and register a complaint and have the restaurant closed and make them show compliance with food handling.

I would put up 'flyers' around my office showing a photo of the cigarette filter I found, and make it known where I got it and the manager's reaction to my complaint (which was 'ho hum")

In retrospect, the restaurant should have been closed by the Health dept. until such time that they show whatever needs to be done that such would NEVER happen again.

I was too big a woose, to press it and I should have and regret it to this day.

Main thing is not to let the restaurant get hold of the cigarette. They'll destroy the evidence. Leave it in situ and demand a plastic bag to put it in. Make sure your vocal enough so other diners know but remain dignified.

The thing that REALLY had me angry as hell, was WHY would any employee making food, be SMOKING while doing so! I could not imagine that happening. Similar, situation can you imagine someone flipping burgers at McDonald's, while smoking a cigarette? How could any responsible manager/supervisor let that happen? Ridiculous!

Exactly, it's not a hair or fly, those accidents happen. It's a clear breach of basic hygiene.

Appreciate your input. Regarding you comment about the 'hair' or a 'fly', when I lived in Ohio, my BFF and I rented small aircraft and flew a group of friends, on a Saturday morning down to southern Ohio for breakfast at a Perkins Pancake house. There were 8 of us at the table.
When the waitress brought our breakfast, one of our friends looked his over, and right in the middle of his 'butter Pad" was a large fly, mashed into the butter.

We called the waitress back and, of course, she brought him another meal, and later on, my pilot friend and I got tickets for free meals at any Perkins Pancake, Just to show that the 'fly' incidents do occur, and hopefully not often. I was told later, that a "good' waitress/waiter, would ALWAYS look over every meal before she brings it to the table in a good restaurant to preclude an incident like that.

Furst choice, take ut back but don't publicly Shame the restaurant. I would hope they would refund my money.
