I love vegetable oil. I think canola is healthier and we also use canola cooking spray as alternative than any other cooking spray. It’s not as tasty as vegetable oil, though.

Any other oil I ever tasted had a bitter aftertaste that pulls/ takes away from the food being cooked. I’ve used extra virgin olive oil and other types for baking- I hate it 🥲

To the defense of everyone else (non-vegetable oil users), I’d hope there is an after taste in vegetable oil that I have somehow desensitized to because I have grown up on that type of oil, BUT if there is not… then that means a lot of people are used to using oils that mix with the natural flavoring of their food. 😭

I’ll have to test this for sure.

Okay materialistic quality/ consistency and they’re the same. How well they fry… I think those are slightly varied, and how well our bodies consume and break these down- I suppose they do have their respectable classes lol

I used to think canola was healthy, too. It's not. I think it was the people who make canola oil that convinced me it was healthy. Probably not the best source, lol.

Extra virgin olive oil is best for cooking. Coconut oil is an excellent replacement for butter.

I used extra virgin olive oil cooking in the restaurant, but at home I use avocado mostly. I also do some cooking with unsalted butter or truffle oil.

Coconut is a good oil for the cooking qualities, but there is too much coconut flavor in everything so I don't like to use it that much. If I had more space, I might keep a little coconut oil around for certain dishes that the flavor would go well with.

Canola, palm, and vegetable are not healthy oils to use. And really oil should be used rarely and sparingly.

Olive oil by far. You need special ones for frying but mostly olive oil.

Other than that there are special dishes (especially Asian cuisine) that work better with alternatives.

Grew up using peanut oil.
Then vegetable oil. Then olive oil. Sometimes coconut oil, sometimes sesame oil. Also avocado oil…so depends what hubby is making. Also sometimes butter.

I use a variety of oils depending on east I'm using them for but I like to use avocado oil a fair bit as it has a high smoke temp and has a buttery taste, it's also a healthy oil.
