Steak Series Question 1: What is your favorite cut of steak?

I don't know about you but I could eat steak almost every day. I love the slight differences in the different cuts. I've perfected a seasoning that i would put up against almost any steakhouse.

I've tried most cuts of steak that are generally eaten.

My Favorite is NY Strip steak (formerly known as Kansas City Strip).

What is your favorite cut of steak?

NY Strip

Filet Mignon

T-bone/Porterhouse

Ribeye

Porterhouse is just a strip steak before the filet mignon is cut out of it. Also not all T-bones are porterhouse, the filet piece has to be a proper filet mignon size for it to be porterhouse. People would do much better price-wise if they just ordered those two cuts separately.

i put two together because they are largely the same. but you are correct. price wise it all depends. my local butcher recently had t-bones on sale. filet is almost always more than a t-bone or porterhouse unless you find a sale. I buy the big tenderloin (the whole thing) and butcher. then i get it for a great price

NY strip has the best balance of flavor, texture, and price point.

I do love a ribeye but it gets pretty fatty.

agree 100% about ny strip. flavor and texture are the best in my opinion

I like steak tenderloins, but I'm not sure if that would be considered a filet or not.

you are correct the tenderloin is the technical term for filet mignon

Ok. I like the one bacon wrapped tenderloin steaks. Other than that, I don't really like.

i love steak but have never had one bacon wrapped.

I love a classic New York strip. You really can’t go wrong with that.
