Steak Series Question 2: How do you like your steak prepared?

Continuing my series of questions regarding one of my favorite foods, I'm moving to how the steak is prepared. Specifically what temperature do you like your steak cooked? I grew up with parents who always cooked to well done (no pink). It was good but then I always didn't know any difference. I found anything less than well done gross, until I ate less done steaks. I slowly moved down the scale from well done to medium well, to medium and now prefer my steaks cooked at medium rare or rare depending on the cut.

So how about you? What temperature do you like your steaks cooked at?

thanks for all the responses. surprised the bulk of votes came in at well done and that nearly 60% like medium well or well done.

I love Steak , now I voted med/ well..

But here in Thai , I order well done generally , when eating Thai beef , the better the cut the rarer you should go of course , but Thai beef is not pumped with hormones the way Aussie beef is , so its a completely different product , but generally grass fed which is what I want.

Medium rare, rare for fillet and medium for a sandwich

Probably one of the mediums. I've heard it's suppose to be red so it doesn't dry out.

Rare or blue rare (seared outside, rare in middle)

Well done, but I always go for cooking it (or ordering it, if dining out) Medium Well and then give it a bit more if not quite there. I DO NOT understand those who like their cows still mooing.

medium rare. But will eat rare and medium. People who eat well done steaks are being disrespectful to cows.
