If you've eaten wild game where did you mostly get it from?

From hunter dad.
Most hunters won't sell deer they shoot because there are annual limits and restrictions so they prefer to keep meat for themselves and their families. Venison in obtainable in supermarket is farmed fallow deer. It's comparable to wild meat because deer can't be farmed in boxes and need a meadow. Those deer get power feed with soybean meal as addition to grass and hay, that's why they gain weight faster.
B's the closest. I've had game meat in restaurants and I've had game jerkey a few times and was also served reindeer on a SAS flight before. And my uncle was a hunter, so I had moose at his house one time.
Specifically I've has deer, elk, bison, moose. If you count rabbit as game meat, I've also had rabbit as you already know.
I had deer at a Patagonian restaurant and I had a Buffalo burger before, but the Buffalo was probably raised. Don't know about the others.
The only one I know for sure was killed in the wild is my uncle's moose.
A local fire department where I used to work would take in recently killed (roadkill) animals and make food for the local homeless shelter. We were volunteering to help out and there was enough “black bear stew” for us all to have some. Delicious
I find it odd that people eat bears. Usually predator meat isn't good to eat and has a nasty smell
Family hunting. That's the cheapest way. You can get a whole 150-250lb deer for only $16 and a 500-700 elk for only $20. That's a LOT of meat to feed the family for almost nothing. Especially if we butcher it ourselves. We get a free pair of gloves if we give the skin to a professional butcher. And, we know where the meat came from and that the animals had a good life in the wild and a chance to hide/escape.

Technically it was a restaurant. I'm fortunate enough to have been given a weekend on a game park a few years ago here in South Africa. For context, the largest of these parks would hold England, Scotland and Wales with space left. The chef goes out each week and hunts. This meat is then allowed to age for a while before it's served. Ideally game should age for at least two weeks in most cases.
The fat content is far lower than domesticated ruminants like beef and it's a stronger flavour.
Yes, now and then I have the luck to eat wild game. When invited at a friend's place around Chrismas, but I don't know where he gets the meat (maybe a supermarket?), but he knows very well how to prepare it. Another friend on the other hand has a cousin in France who's a hunter, and often he gets lumps of wild boar and deer. This second friend still did not really grasp how to prepare it...
My friend's dad always had a freezer full of elk and deer meat. He used to drive all over the country to hunt, sometimes 2000 miles just to get there. One of my other friends killed a wild goat, that meat smelled funky. I cooked a duck that my friend killed at the park back in 1995 because it wasn't right and I didn't want it to go to waste. Not advisable. Plenty of fish caught offshore. My friend's dad used to cook pheasants he hunted in the desert in a smoker, that was the best by far.
We're extremely fortunate in having an excellent butcher's department within our local farm shop, which sources locally caught wild game... Venison, Pheasant etc.
Vietnam in a market stall , I wanted to try dog , a little chewy..
And Kangaroo in Australia , which was killed on a farm , he BBQs them all the time , the only country that eats its National symbol , but lets be clear , we are all UK convicts after all , you guys didn't want us.. But at least we can beat you at Cricket.
From a hunter friend. I help butcher the deer, which is a lot of work. It takes hours. I get a fair amount of meat in return. I'm almost out of the venison from last year. I've also eaten other wild game from various hunters I've known over the years. Squirrel, rabbit, turkey, duck, etc.
We had Thompson Gazelle in the Serengeti. Our tour guide knew a licensed hunter so it was a nice added bonus to the experience.
mall other games I’ve eaten are mostly at family functions and they probably bought it from the butcher.
Shot it or fished it. Wild Turkey, White tail deer, wild boar, wild duck, wild goose, wild ram, mule deer. I've shot Elk & moose before but didn't find it to be good eating. I've shot a lot Burmese pythons but they aren't good eating but you can't shoot enough of them. What I learned with duck, geese & turkeys is that if you can shoot them without using a shotgun it's good eating.
I've fished a lot of trout, salmon, catfish & carp.
some relatives, and friend's families would hunt, also fish...
I used to have a Brazilian friend who would bake crabs he caught himself at the beach. They were very dumb crabs, you bring a deep pail and they don’t know how to climb out of it.
I shot my first deer yes I hunted Bambi. It did taste very good. Over the years and my travels I was able to make connection with people I worked with. They help provide me with venison. It was quite delicious. As we started having children, we put it in Pizza Spaghetti. We usually put it with tomato sauce. As the children grow older. Might work colleagues also provided me with sausages. The sausages were more of my taste anyway.
Young baby Pigeon in Egypt up in a Muslim Ex Hubby's Barn in the House. xxoo
A coworker is a hunter. He gave all the guys in the office some venison.
My next door neighbor brought over some venison because I helped him drag a deer he caught with his lobster boat into his cellar before the warden came by. It was a little gamey but if you cook it well done it wasn't bad
I have a family friend that hunts deer, moose and goose. Very good eating when he gets something.
