I was eating at a regular sit down restaurant and the receipt didn’t have a section for the tip. I just manually wrote it in. weird

This is in the US. I figured out finally they added an automatic 20% gratuity and I just saw it on my credit card. This was never explained. Anyone going there for the first time must be confused.

Umm here in Southeastern Europe, there is no such thing as a section for tipping on the receipt.
If you tip the person who provided you a service, you just give them more cash to keep and you tell them to keep it all and no change is needed.
And if you pay by card I think in most places you can choose the tipping option as well.

in some countries they dont tip
