What ingredients are necessary for a great sandwich?

For me veggies/fruits are a must to add some freshness. I get tired quickly if it's just cheese and meat, e. g. So I like to add some fresh tomatoes, lettuce/kale, raw onions even (I like just a little bit), maybe avocado, things like that. I want a bit of a salad thing going on in my sandwich.

Jalapeños sometimes, not sweet fruits like bananas or apples or strawberries (although I actually sometimes like small amounts of apple in a tuna salad).

Ah damn, I really love jalapeños over pickles sometimes depending on the sandwich. Olives are another fruit I love sometimes in a sandwich, like a turkey sandwich.

Oh yeah same. I still eat them once in a while, even tho I always end up regretting it after.

I didn't have an olive until I was an adult and they're a good salty punch. Although, I probably wouldn't have liked them as a kid, since it has more complex flavors and just like any child I preferred sweet and salty.

I loathed them as a kid. I thought it was one of the most disgusting things I ever ate. But acquired a taste for them as an adult. Now I really love them.

I hated mushrooms as a kid and now they're probably in my top 5 favorite foods.

Mushrooms I always liked for some reason, but definitely not so much olives. I think it's because we have very mild-tasting mushrooms here in Japan like Enoki which barely have that mushroom flavor

And my parents gradually transitioned me to ones with more of that earthy mushroom flavor in ways where I was able to get used to each step.

Depends. High quality butter is the magic ingredient for cheese and ham. Self made mayonnaise for fish end eggs, salt brine pickles + mustard and lettuce for sausage slices.

Meats, cheeses, condiments, but what really makes a good sandwich is the bread. Publix deli has some of the best bread out there
