Is it ok to feed my cat with Fancy Feast? It seems she likes it.
I've seen a lot of cats go absolutely bonkers over it, acting like it's the feline equivalent of a Michelin-star meal. But whether it's actually good for them, well, that's a bit of depending on who you ask and what your standards are for "good."
First off, there's a huge variety of Fancy Feast out there—everything from your classic wet food to those fancy little concoctions with real chunks of meat and gravy. Generally, wet food is a big thumbs-up for cats because it helps keep them hydrated, which is always a good thing, especially since cats aren't known for being big drinkers (of water, at least).
Nutrition-wise, some of their offerings are pretty decent, with real meat high up on the ingredient list, which is what you want to see. Cats are obligate carnivores, after all, so meat should be the main event in their diet. However, some varieties might include stuff like meat by-products or fillers that aren't exactly top-shelf in terms of nutritional value. It's not that these are harmful, per se, but they're not the nutritional equivalent of catching a fresh mouse or bird.
The trick with Fancy Feast, or really any cat food, is to read the labels closely. Look for products with specific types of meat (like chicken, beef, or fish) listed as the first ingredient, and try to steer clear of those with a lot of vague terms like "meat by-products" or a laundry list of artificial additives.
But what works wonders for one cat might not be ideal for another. If your cat is maintaining a healthy weight, has a shiny coat, and full of energy—then you're probably on the right track. If you are not sure, ask your vet.

+1 yThat is the only food my picky eaters will eat. They don't eat canned food, just lick the juices. They won't eat fresh rotisserie and warm chicken. They also won't eat Meow Mix, or basically any cat food but Fancy Feast. I never knew cats could be epicureans. 😯

WHAT? That's not Fancy Feast!! 21 Reply- +1 y
Morris the cat was picky as well

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yPurina is not a good cat food brand. It's low quality and will cause health issues. For wet cat food I would recommend Tiki Cat and for dry food I would recommend Acana/Orijen cat food. I own a cat myself so I did a lot of research when I first bought him.

And where do you find these brands like Tiki and Acana?
Opinion Owner+1 yYou can find them online or in pet stores like Pet Supplies Plus, or maybe in Petsmart as well

I'll check it out. Thanks.

m +1 yFancy Feast and Tiki Cat are the ones I usually get my cats as wet food and more of a treat
their base diet is dry food and also cooked chicken... as mine are into variety03 Reply- +1 y
What is Tiki Cat? I don't believe I have ever seen that brand at Walmart.

if you go to their site... you can go to "Where To Buy" and narrow it to zip code or city
personally, I get it from a few local pet stores or Petco
and I think you can also order bulk from Amazon
these might be a great choice for yours... since these are broths, or many of them are
I usually get them the Tiki Cat After Dark variety

Thanks.
+1 yIt has cereal grains, so no. Cats eat meat, nothing else. Their body doesn't handle carbs well. It can give them diabetes which can potentially kill them.

+1 yNo, its rancid meat in a metal container that will make your cat's shit stink really bad.
Fresh cooked meats and dry catfood combination is better.10 Reply - 1.3K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic.
u +1 yMost cats like "wet" cat food but it is not good for their teeth. It sounds boring but they really do best on having the same dry food every day.

+1 yYou need a combination of dry and wet foods for cars. You can't just feed them wet food. Fancy feast is basically a rebranded sheba.. It's literally all the same stuff.

This is speaking as someone who has owned cats for 40 years
- +1 y
@worldscolide But Sheba is wet cat food and only comes in small cans, like Fancy Feast does. When you have 4 cats, those small cans become expensive to feed them.
- +1 y
You're absolutely not wrong. It's why my cats get one can a day, with and auto feeder for dry food they can have any time they want. Dry food is way cheaper lol.
- +1 y
@worldscolide. You and me both. I have to correct you, we haven't "owned" cats, we have been employed as "cat staff" for 40 years.
- +1 y
Are you sure they haven't employed us?
- +1 y
@worldscolide. If only they paid well.

Right!!!
1K opinions shared on Food & Beverage topic. I've been giving it to my cats for years. They love the food. My vet says it is a good brand. My cats are 16 1/2 years old and they are perfectly healthy.

Have you noticed that Fancy Feast gives your cats bad breath? It smells like half-digested Fancy Feast. Then they lick themselves and their fur smells like it too. 🤢😖 I'm tempted to give them a bath. Baptizing a cat is never a good thing. 😯

Wow, how do you get the cats to stand still for a brushing without having your hands and arms shredded? I give my cats a product called "Greenies Dental Treats" that come in chicken, tuna, and catnip flavors. It does seem to help a bit. But I just started giving them that so the jury is still out.

@Daniela1982 I use a rubber brush that goes on my finger. I wedge the cats between my legs facing away from me. Then I hold their head with one hand and brush with the other. I've been doing it since they were kittens so they are used to it. If you try doing it to older cats that has never had it done it's a lot more difficult. They make a special tooth paste just for animals.

Being on your finger would help.

@SolitarySolace And what did they vote in as their favorite?
- +1 y
Well she is very picky. I got her this new stuff and she tried one of the three different kinds the box came with and hate some of the top of it but didn't eat the rest. She doesn't seem to like anything with bits in it. She only eats meow mix and liquid stuff like soups for cats
- +1 y
I never knew they even had soup for cats. 🤔
No. It's made in China.
