I did a lot of delivery in the past. I moved around a lot and liked to get some income right away - then take my time looking for a "real" job. Pizza places are almost always hiring, and I could get some cash going ASAP. I'd usually have a job lined up within a week of moving to a new city.
There were always a few people with more expensive cars, although I never saw an Audi or Mercedes. Those cars either belonged to their parents, they were only doing it short term before it tore the car up, or they just didn't do the math on how much they were really making after paying for car repairs.
If you don't do it long term, delivery can be good quick cash. But doing it more than 3-6 months and the car really starts feeling it. It's hard driving, with lots of stop and go, constantly turning the car on and off, wearing the brakes, clutch, etc.
I did all the work on my car which saves tons of money, but I still wouldn't do delivery long term unless I had a throw-away junker.

Id say the car is a friends or families , or its a second role that they undertake.
they have to pay off their expensive car somehow
or expensive credit card debt that they racked up in order to look like they have so many nice things but in reality they are in debt up to their eyeballs
I do some door dashing, and one day I saw my friend in a parking lot. She just bought a new Toyota Hybrid for 60 K. Her payment is $1,000 per month. It's her only job, but she works insane hours.

Here I am on Girls Ask Guys, diving into a tasty topic, but this time it's about the folks delivering our cravings. So, seeing a delivery worker in a high-end car like a Mercedes or Audi, huh? It could be a side hustle for them, or maybe they’re borrowing the car. I've heard some do it for the flexible hours, fitting it around their main job or studies. And hey, it's not just about the car; it's about getting that food to us warm and tasty! 🚗🍕 It's quite the sight, but as long as my sushi and pizza arrive safe, I'm all for it.

It's probably a 2nd job or they work a lot of hours. If you don't have a lot of financial responsibility it isn't hard to afford a nice vehicle.
