You are invited as a guest to dinner. But they are having something on the menu you don't like. What do you do?

Someone has cooked dinner and they have invited you to their home to eat. Meanwhile you have learned they are cooking with a ingredient or two in the side dishes such as onion chips added garlic whichever but you don't like it. Do you special order them cook the food your way to satisfy you? Do you complain about it skip the side dishes and go for larger helpings of the main course? Or do you pass on the dinner all together?

I grew up in the day when and if someone invited you to eat you didn't have a menu to choose from and you didn't special order it your way you were thankful they invited you in the first place. Making a special order at their invitation would have been considered a outright rude thing to do to them. And you certainly wouldn't have passed on the sides and loaded up on the main course because they may have had other guest coming you weren't aware of and you would cut them short.
