trying to figure this one out , this restaurant i go to in hometown seemed to get a lot of negative reviews this summer ( like 1 star some even said they leave 0 if possible they were that unhappy ) , sure there were a lot of positive ones too but seems to be a lot of customers who left unhappy this summer more than other years.
like what would actually motivate someone to leave a negative review? instead of trying to talk to management afterwords to address there concerns with the business and service

I wouldn't. I don't like doing that but it would cross my mind only if the staff was very impolite. But I still wouldn't do it because I wouldn't want to be the cause that makes a person lose their job no matter how impolite they might be.
a lot of the bad reviews for the restaurant i mentioned seemed to focus on staff and how they didn't like the way they acted around the business
its possible one of the servers lost her job cause an east indian family complained she treated them in a way that was discriminatory , haven't seen her there for a while now
A negative experience that did not improve after speaking to whoever is in charge.
it didn't appear any of these people attempted to speak to the owner or manager and they did not reply to there google review like some owners do.
it appeared something odd or off going on at this restaurant based on the reviews , a lot of complaints about odd things i don't normally hear people with issues. like staff not looking happy or being interested in job , like they didn't want to be there or care.
read some of the google comments , does this seem like normal stuff for people to complain about? and multiple people are noticing the same things with staff
"Service was below average at best. Not one server or hostess was friendly or welcoming. No one smiled. Not kid friendly. Not worth the trip."
"Terrible service! I would give this place a 0 if I could. They didn’t even bother taking our name down for the table. Other people who walked in later and who happened to not be minorities were immediately asked to put their name on the list. They were blatantly discriminatory. ."
"I visited this place today (Sep 15) for an early dinner. Apart from one waitress, the staff seemed to dislike their jobs, especially one server who clearly didn’t want to be there."
"One of the servers was extremely rude for some reason and food/drinks pretty average"
"The staff also appeared to be distracted and seemed not overly happy about being at their jobs?
and this one from a long time customer no more
My wife and I have been loyal customers for 14 years.
The pub used to be an amazing place for good food and service at reasonable prices.
The last 2 years, the food and service have become poor overall and the prices have been steadily increasing. Way over priced, just ripping people off now. Greed will bite them back.
The pub has lost us as customers.
Very sad, we used to love the place.
and this one rude and discriminatory service? i've rarely ever heard of anyone being discriminated against in a restaurant? that seems so off in 2024 right?
"Unbelievably Rude and Discriminatory Service
If I could give this place zero stars, I would, and it's entirely because of the disgraceful service we received from one of the waitresses. She had a tattoo sleeve and reddish hair, I don’t remember her name"
"I went here to celebrate my birthday with dinner and was extremely disappointed by the unfriendly service we received. I have never had such awful service in my life. Sitting on the top deck has beautiful views but the girl with short blond hair gave the impression she hated being there. She had no smile or interest in working there and it completely ruined the experience"
