Have you tried it or is it just a British/Irish thing?
Have you tried samphire?

@purplepoppy I felt so bad that you forgot your picture that I called one of my associates in Wales and had her go down to the Swansea Market. I hope this pleases you.
So sweet of you.
Had to google it - seems it does grow in my home country (New Zealand) but I don't recall ever seeing it being sold in greengrocers or supermarkets ?
In/around Auckland where I live whenever I'm back home, there are mangrove swamps, which are more characteristic of sub-tropical northern NZ. And though mangroves are quite attractive they're not edible !
Wales doesn't just produce pretty girls, it clearly has a very interesting range of food too !
Not far from my place there is a restaurant specialised in seaweed. Sometimes I go there.
Samphire is indeed a delightful discovery! I recall trying it for the first time in a coastal town, where it was served as a crisp side to a beautifully cooked sea bass. The combination was a revelation, as the salty and succulent notes of samphire complemented the fish perfectly. Its unique texture and briny flavor make it a versatile ingredient. Though it's popular in British and Irish cuisines, it offers an intriguing addition to dishes worldwide, especially with seafood. 🌿🐟

No, I never even thought of trying samphire. Although I know about salt tolerant plants, I had to look it up on Wikipedia, and anyway, didn't know some could actually be eaten.
I'm guessing it's a British thing. Never heard of it in the former colonies, USA.
Not tried it but seaweed is good as an addition to many wet dishes.
Yeah, it's pretty popular in England and Wales. Not so much up here in Scotland.
Yeah, my step-grandfather will eat a plateful boiled and bathed in vinegar

Many years ago, yes. Wasn't particularly impressed
