This has been occurring for three decades now when we go out together and it never fails!!!

And while I'm here!!! Here's My Take:

School staff, doctors, child care, coaches, emergency contacts, EVERYONE HAS TO STOP 🛑 calling "Mom" cuz of their own fucked up sexist default!! CALL THE PRIMARY NUMBER THATS LISTED!! Despite all the doubts, waiting staff are actually sentient and are probably extrapolating from numerous past orders. I think be clear on the order as to who the diet coke is for. then complain if they have a goldfish memory.

In terms of calling Mom, I think this is just bad IT and training on same. Presumably both Mom and Dad are in the system but one of them should be first emergency contact. The staff should be trained to call the nominated first contact point.

This is greatly annoying but I don't think extrapolations from the general case to the specific case makes the threshold of sexist though it is somewhat close.

Probably somewhat. Or maybe just playing the percentages? If I take my best friend to lunch I am the one ordering the healthy meal and she is ordering the double cheeseburger with extra fries and onion rings. I'm 6'2 and around 195. She's like 5'4 and 120. If the person who brings the food is not the one who took the order, the wrong meal is nearly always given to each of us because of stereotypes.

it is either sexism or stupidity. I hate ketchup and I tell the waiter that I do not want ketchup on my burger. Thrn I repeat myself and say no ketchup, mustard mayo , no nothing/ . Sometime they screw it up anyway. Then I send it back and they bring back the same burger with the ketchup scraped off. I tell the guy that I could , have scraped it off myself and i want a new one. By the time it comes everyone else is finished eating.

I give them one more chance a d it they screw up again I never go back.

People like to put labels on things. Call it whatever you want but the fact is that if that server sees 500 people per week and zero men every order diet, then it's totally understandable if they get the order mixed up. Just like if a dude puts on a dress and he looks like a dude it's understandable if 99% of people think it's a dude and not a female, regardless of what he wants people to think.

The same thing happens when I order a glass of wine and my wife a beer. I will always get the beer glass served right in front of me.

And yes, I will be always be called second, in case of... The only time where that is an advantage is in those dreadful 'whatsup' parents groups.
