Why do men feel the need to make inappropriate comments to waitresses?

Men may feel the need to make inappropriate comments to waitresses due to a combination of factors including a perceived power imbalance between the customer and server, societal views on women's roles, a desire to objectify or sexualize women, and sometimes a lack of awareness or understanding of what constitutes inappropriate behavior, often exacerbated by the social setting of a restaurant where some may feel emboldened to act this way.
Key points to consider:
Power dynamic:
In a restaurant setting, the customer is often seen as having more power than the server, which can lead some men to feel entitled to make comments or advances that they might not feel comfortable making in other situations.
Gender stereotypes:
Societal views that may perpetuate the idea of women in service roles as being more approachable or even available for sexual attention can contribute to this behavior.
Objectification:
Some men may see waitresses as objects to be looked at and commented on, rather than as individuals with their own agency.
Social context:
The casual atmosphere of a restaurant can sometimes create a sense of permissiveness, leading some people to act more freely than they would in other settings.
Lack of awareness:
Not all men who make inappropriate comments are intentionally trying to be disrespectful; some may simply not recognize their behavior as problematic due to societal norms or personal beliefs.
Important to note:
Not all men behave this way:
It's crucial to remember that not all men make inappropriate comments to waitresses, and many actively condemn such behavior.
Respectful interaction is key:
Treating servers with the same respect and courtesy as anyone else is essential.
Addressing the issue:
If you witness inappropriate behavior, it's important to speak up and hold individuals accountable, and restaurants can play a role by promoting a culture of respect within their establishments.
What kind of comments? I’m not justifying them making inappropriate comments but where are you a waitress at? I’m just asking because certain establishments attract certain types of patrons. I’ve never seen a man make an appropriate comment to a waitress. The only time I’ve ever seen that was when I was in the military 20 plus years ago at strip clubs.
Cause they want inside our pants and we're raised in a barn. Also in the Middle East or are Muslim. They feel a right to our body just cause they like it! Being women we owe them and we are trash to be owned.
Mostly horny losers who won't ever get a date! Once liked a guy till he made a comment and went to instant dislike. Also they never tip us!
Like you should after ruining my day! Some do it just to try and ruin our day! It's a power trip.
Once when alone working the desk while ordering a cross dresser made the worst comment and I told them to repeat it. Not to me but to the whole restaurant over the loud speaker with the Mike right pointed at him... Not on but there!
They are cowards but make some unfortunate women into single moms! Continuing the cycle

I asked a waitress on a date once, but I promised her I wouldn't treat her any different if she told me no.
Cause they haven't been raised right.
Power equation plus sexism.
Only very shallow men
