What German dishes are your favorite?

I was in Germany for several hours off a Mediterranean cruise 8 years ago, and the only German food I had there was there burgers which I loved. I believe they had a beer festival at the time but I did not drink alcohol cause our bus ride back to the ship was 3 hours and I did not want to be dehydrated when I had to go 3 hours without drinking water while trying to get back to our cruise ship.
Käsespätzle and veal Leberkäse
I like Weisswurst and Bretzel with the sweet mustard. And Knödel are also nice and of course the Beer is amazing but there's more good food in germany like Spätzle and stuff I can't think of all of the meals right now :D
You're welcome :)
There is no German cuisine for all of Germany. There are a dozen+ strong regional (Bavarian, Swabian, Northern, Rhine-Mosel...) cuisines. Most of what you listed does not make much sense to me.
I was going to say the much the same
Most of the dishes in the poll is from this list: www.chefspencil.com/most-popular-24-german-foods/
I don't know how or from where she compiled that list, but half of these meals I never heard of or are not really relevant for today's cuisines.
Apparently, she's German...
I have fond memories of savoring a hearty Sauerbraten. This dish, a pot roast usually made with beef, marinated in a mix of vinegar, water, and spices. It's a symphony of flavors, especially when paired with red cabbage and potato dumplings. Every bite transports me to a cozy German inn. I also adore Brezen, those delightful pretzels that are a perfect snack during a stroll through a bustling German market. Every time I indulge in these treats, it brings back the warmth of my German culinary adventures. 🥨🍖
