@miah06 My family had a house on an island , right on the ocean. My next door neighbor was a lobsterman. One day he was out hauling his traps and he came across a deer swimming in the channel. Sometimes they swim from island to island looking for mates. My neighbor pulled up alongside the deer and tied a rope around his neck and cut his throat. He towed him into shore. It is very illegal to do this. It was about 5 o clock and he came to my house and banged on the door. He asked me if I could help him with something. So I walk with him down to the beach and i see this big 8 point buck lying on the beach. We had to drag him up the beach and into his basement before the warden came by.. there was blood and hair all over the rocks but we got the deer into his basement where he was going to dress it.
So a few weeks later I had my Hibachi all fired up and my neighbor came over with a couple of deer steaks,. I ate one on the grill and it was a little gamey. It was okay but I could tell I was not eating beef. The other steak I cut up and used it in a stew and it was good.

Yes. I went deer hunting for the first time ever back in November and got two bucks. We skinned them and froze the meat. Then, about three or four months ago, I finally grilled some of it. It was pretty tasty.

  Fun fact - The whole thing about Bambi is apparently garbage. Apparently, does kick junior out almost immediately.

  That is according to my father-in-law, at least. So to all the kids out there who were traumatized by Bambi (I personally was not, FTR), enjoy a nice venison steak tonight!

My husband is an avid Hunter. He brings back a lot of white tail deer. I've eaten red deer back home in the uk. A neighbour of ours used to farm them.
