I ask because I did this at a restaurant using this exact language and they didn’t substitute the item I wanted. My mom said, because of my language, they thought I meant the opposite, so I’m curious to see what y’all think.

I take the dish back to the kitchen, place the potatoes on the new dish and scrape the Brussels sprouts from the old dish onto the new dish with the potatoes and discard the corn.

One always has to discard food on a plate because you never know what kind of diseases and pathogens have touched the food.

The old dish is then put in the dishwasher and that would be my way of proceeding.
